I've just been discussing this and was asked if I thought everyone had one. I didn't know hence....
Is this a general universal phenomenon? or is it restricted to the few? We've seen it mentioned everywhere by several people and there are times I have fallen victim to this phenomenon myself, I'll confess!
I'll confess mind, but I won't name names.
It's quite interestng because in all likeliness these people you have never met, maybe will never meet so it's not like the usual laws of attraction is it. I say attraction but what I mean is sometimes there is something about a persons comments in a post that draws you to them and makes you shall we say more interested in what they have to say. Assuming everyone is being them true selves, which is a big assumption I know, (although I suspect it's harder to mask yourself asides from occasionally bigging oneself up than you'd think it is) the secret forum crush phenomenon is largely personality based. Although I guess now most people know what everyone else looks like so maybe that does play a part.
But, is the secret forum crush more than that, by this I mean when you log on and read through the threads are there those threads you will go to first because you see someone you admire in general (you might think they are particularly witty or funny or clever in a non heart fluttery way) has made them or has posted last in them, and will you be turned off some threads because of the opposite reason, i.e. someone you think is a prat has written in it.
So, would you admit to have at one time having a totally harmless little secret forum crush in some guise or other?
Or do you not believe in this phenomenon.

I think... NOBODY ON THE FORUM LOVES ME! That's why barely anyone posts in some of my threads.
Come on you guys - can't we all be a big forum family?
Also - No, I can't understand why you would have a crush on anyone in intenet forums. I can understand if you know someone locally and you talk with them on IM or something. But I can't really become attracted to people just on some random forum.
In response to your other question,
I pretty much admire everyone on this forum, there is no reason to hate or dislike anyone more then the other - for me atleast. So, usualy I don't jump to a thread just because someone in specific has created it; usualy I go to a thread because it has a interesting topic.
Often times however - I'm turned off by threads with a lot of posts, basically (like everyone else) because I don't feel like sorting through a bunch of random posts. |

I have a secret forum crush on Erubus. I think it's because he's smart as well as extremely witty. Maybe also because he looks like the legendary but elusive Sasquatch.

I don’t think I have formulated a crush, although I find many forum members quite charming. And I think Floop posts some of the funniest one liners.

| This is quite an interesting thread. I must admit that for a while I did have a kind of a tiny secret crush on a particular member of this forum. It really is an interesting phenomenon since I actually enjoyed and still enjoy other members posts much more that this particular members' posts. It was really silly and dumb, like all crushes are. |

Well, Id love to be able to say no, thats a ridiculous idea- i do enjoy reading some peoples post more than others but crush? i hardly think so, what is this? high school?
But its been well documented that I can not, due to the fact id be a slightyl hypocritical! Although, that was like someone I only talk to on just the forum...that a little...weird if it was.
