I had pizza last night, and I'm going to have leftover pizza in a few minutes.

I ate japanese food at the sister restaurant to my favorite sushi restaurant. It was goddam amazing. We had a brilliant marinated and grilled sea bass. Perfectly cooked and flavored. Then, we had kobe beef slices brought to us along with a smooth round rock that had been heated to incredible temperature, and we cooked the beef slices on the rock, and dipped it in a soy-based sauce. It was juicy and flavorful, and gave great aroma as it sizzled on the hot rock. The sushi was brilliant as well, especially the sea urchin-so fresh it was almost dry. For dessert they grilled tiny sweet potatoes and wrapped them in japanese newspapers and served them with salt to dip the tips in. It was perfectly amazing. Some meals really transcend normal eating. Oh, except for the loud as hell drunken SMU students who were yelling like they were in a sports bar and making me regret being caucasian.

mmmmmm...artichokes are one of my favorite foods (the fresh kinds).

Had steak my mom cooked for me and my son, along with a spinach salad, new potatoes, and green beans. Very delicious.

Chicken tenders with cream gravy. It had so much potential, but the "Dixie House" restaurant ruined them with freezing and lackluster preparation. Oh well, it's where my son wanted to eat and he's happy.

The best souvlaki is spiced fairly minimally, a little sprinkling of salt and then oregano, with some lemon squeezed on it and soaked in a lemon juice/oil container for a little before serving. I've actually never really had beef souvlaki, I like pork myself.

If you have wood coals that makes a huge difference too. There's this stand in Milous, a small town halfway between Tripoli and Argos, and all they did was cook the souvlaki on wood coals with oregano, lemon, and oil and they are the most popular souvlaki stand in that whole region - I'd make the trip there just for that souvlaki.

Er, no I don't have wood coals,
just your standard propane bbq.

Well maybe I might try that.
Are you saying you soak it after you've cooked it?
Its weird because the recipes I saw and the one I tried has
garlic, oregano, olive oil, lemon, redwine vinegar...and the list goes on.
I marinated the beef for about 6 hours, skewered and bbqed.
And I made tzatziki, I think I just like the tzatzki the most.
All inspired by a trip to Yanni's on whyte.

I'm all about the cooking lately, well since I've stayed at home.
Perhaps I might try bellydancing next...;)
