floop, it is not healthy to be closeted about your desires. They are totally natural and normal. You can keep them private, but denying, as you do, what gives you profound pleasure will only bring you profound unhappiness.

i had dinner at someone's house last night. they said, "we're having vegetarian, i hope you don't mind".. to which i said, "of course not, that sounds great" (lying)
we started with some wine and feta cheese (thank god for the wine).. and then she brought out these guacamole wraps. which was basically guacamole on large pieces of romaine lettuce, kind of Korean style.. it was actually very fucking good and very spicy. anyway, so that was good..
then the main course was pasta with tomato sauce.. and some giant mushroom things with onions, also served on lettuce..
all in all, sure, it was good.. but this morning i woke up feeling starved to death.
i'm going to go get a carne asada burrito today as an 'apology' to my body |

Mun, did you see that? He just put down feta cheese? No one does that to the Greeks and Cypriots on this board! No one!
That's it floop, no halloumi for you. If you even know what that is.

meat is not bad for you. fat is bad for you, but fat is found in other foods too. how much you exercise is as important than what you eat. diet is important, yes. but i think people put too much emphasis on that, and not enough on being active and exercising.
in conclusion, i'm right |

Carry on. You're making us proud.
It being 93 degrees today, I had a strawberry, banana, & blueberry smoothie for lunch. I'll probably top it off with a slice of pizza a little later. |

The Smoothie: Cold drink of the devil
It just takes up a whole parking space worth of room in your stomach and stays there the rest of the day. And all the vitamins and goodness of the fruit is degraded. Citrus is particularly bad.

Degraded? How so? And why is filling your tummy bad?
Would you be more charitable if I told you my smoothie was a secret recipe? |

Mission accomplished in T - 14 hours (depending on the length of your digestive tract and how many tortilla chips you ate). |

darwin, I am being charitable. But honest as well.
I just had the most delicious three slices of Tofurky™ siced and plain, no secret sauce or a thing. I like my Tofurky™ like I like my men*, straight.

Kathryn, you're one of these no-carbs nutcases, how can we trust your opinion on health matters? Also, you'll notice no citrus in his drink, but instead a big pile of vitamins and healthy stuff that just doesn't exist in most of the other cold drinks that Darwin could have had.
Tonight I ate some squash soup and vegetable dhal with rice, and you know what? I'm still hungry.

I am *not* a no-carb nutcase. I once ate some rice, I think it was back in '99. You remain hungry because you ate too much rice and not enough lentils and veggies.
Don't hold it against me that I enjoy a little Tofurky™ now and then.

Last night, I had the buttermilk shrimp at Applebee's. It came with mixed vegetables and BREAD. I had to substitute French fries for the mashed potatoes, though, because I'm the only person on Earth who just does not like mashed potatoes.
Kathyrn, if the only carbohydrate-rich food you've had was rice, no wonder you're so down on carbs! Have some bread and cereal, woman!

But it's rice and stuff that fills you up, right? Your logic makes no sense. I blame the fact that their was at least one Swede present for most of my problems, thats usually the way it goes.

You people have fallen for the pro-carb propaganda. Fruits and veggies and grains fill you up just fine. You don't need to drop a carb-bomb into your stomach to feel satiated after a meal.

You said it! I knew 'carb bomb' would fall into your conversation eventually! Carbohydrates are necessary: they provide energy, which you need. It's logical. The balanced plate thing works it out in an easy to understand diagram, as I see you're having difficulties: half the plate vegetables, quarter protein, quarter carbohydrates.

Pretty sure my plate was looking 1/2-1/4-1/4 last night. Had some white fish (only meat I eat) baked with just a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper. Half the plate full of yummy esparagus (I can't get enough of it this time of year), and a slice of homemade bread.

Although barely any of that is stuff I'd make for myself, that sounds really, really good.

So that's what this is about, Cheesey: you set a little trap for me. Yes, I dared say "carb bomb," and I did so knowing that you would, as you did, incorrectly lump me with the pansies who fell for the latest diet boogeyman ... whereas I have always disliked white food (white bread, white rice, etc.) because it makes me sleepy. I divulge this fact knowing that you will mock me for it, too
Lastly, dear Simon, I am nothing if not full of energy. Christ, if there's one thing I do not need is more energy.
So, what are you having for dinner?

It's a quick one tonight (check me out: I'm going to the theatre!), so I'm going to reheat some of the filled pasta I had the other night, and have it with some salad and bread again, I guess.
Good gravy, if it wasn't for my standard lunchtime chicken escalope, I wouldn't have had meat in three days!
On the subject though - you never before mentioned your dislike of white food (which is fine, its a personal thing); you've always brought up the fact of carbohydrates in the food. Hence the interpretations.
And it's not about having too much energy, it's about having sufficient energy. Where do you get your required calories from? Fat?

Kathryn, why don't you eat whole wheat bread, if it's white food you hate?
I had some pizza yesterday. Two different kinds! One was a lot better than the other.
