24-hour rules apply, let's go.

I had paella that I made myself. First attempt at the dish, not bad for a beginner. A little sticky (from impatience, no doubt), a little burnt, could use more seafood next time, but otherwise pretty good. With it, Greek bread and green salad.

Yesterday: Lamb, home made fries, garden salad with a glass of Chateauneuf du Pape. Specifically Chateau Des Gardines.

Tonight: Likely lamb chops.

Can I have supper at your house please Dean?

Yesterday's supper was stew in the crockpot,
and that also was my lunch today.

Tonite hubby makes dinner so I'm just praying its not macaroni and cut up weiners...;)

All I've had today is a turkey sandwhich and a few girlscout cookies. Now I'm just snacking on some baby carrots, and tonight's dinner is pasta with grilled chicked.

COF, sounds like you're eating good lately.

Last night I had spicy meatballs with potato wedges, and a side salad. I drank water. After that I had apple strudle with cream, a chocolate biscuit, a piece of sponge cake and two Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

This morning I had two hot-cross buns, for my lunch I had a New York Deli sandwich and a hot sausage roll. When I got home form work I had another hot-cross bun. For my dinner tonight I had the left-overs from last nights meatballs, wedges and salad, followed by some left-over strudle. I drank water all day.

Seitan is a meat substitute. It is made from wheat gluten and is quite high in protein and low in fat.
Not mediterranian at all...

Seitan sounds exactly like the Turkish word for devil.
Which brings me to Greeks and lamb. It's a Greek thing. Don't
even attempt it unless you're Greek. And Dean, do not be
giving out lamb recipes to non-Greeks, OK? It would upset
your yiayia and mine.

Way to go, Cheesey! Thanks for explaining that the 24-hour rules
apply. I appreciate that. And I won't clutter your thread with my stupid questions.

I'm thinking Cheesman might be a better cook than crockpot floop?

Tonight: samosas, rice, spinach. Lots of water. Some tea.

Nothing fancy, Simon, just bbq'd the lamb chops - didn't even add lemon or anything (though I usually like it with lemon and oregano). However, my dad once made this rack of lamb dish with sika (Greek figs) that I've not tasted anything in the same ballpark as, ever. Amazing. The other trick with lamb is even if you botch it, if you mix it with tzatziki, it becomes candy (unless it's burnt, and then the bitterness is just horrible).

But I didn't cook it myself.

One of the things I'm most looking forward to in Greece is the nice fresh salads with soft feta cheese and enough olive oil to take some bread after the salad is gone and sop up the remaining fruit juices and oils. Makes me hungry.

For the record, I'm having leftovers tonight. And orange juice instead of wine. :)

And of course, Kathryn, my yiayia's secret as well as the secret to the sika rack of lamb will either be passed on to my kids or, in the increasingly likely event that I remain single for eternity, die with me but be coded on my tombstone so some advanced race in the year 3350 can decipher it. Everything I've said so far is known to the masses.

I will say this, the best lamb (aside from the sika) is on the spit. The real candy is when it's fresh, warm, and you get some skin in there with tzatziki.

That's so good, to do that with the bread, I think that only mediterranean people does that. It's the best part!

It is about quitting time for me, so this is a great topic. I think tonight I am having a squash craving. Yes. That's it. Unfortunately I will have to buy some on the way home. The squash we grew this last year is long gone. Instead of mashed potatoes. I like to make smashed delicata squash. Add a little garlic and butter and it's perfect. Not sure what else to make beyond that.

First I had a tequila and ate paprika Pringles. Then I had pork roast with potatoes and mushrooms, and then a pistachio yoghurt.

I'm going to lunch right now, full report in an hour.
