I can't get why its seldom mentioned here,
I think its fab & seems neglected in the years I've been a list/group and then forum member...
So why am I the only one who rates it?
I mean there are some absolute classics, ballads, all the great stuff that we know and love FB & TC's for...
(Sharpen your pencils now chaps...)

| I think that Pistolero is like a weaker version of FB&TCs; however, FB&TCs is the best album of the lot. |

| this was the first fb and the cs album i bought and i thought it was good. i think the main thing people say about it is that there are more 'weaker' songs on it than other albums they have done. it shoudlnt be ignored though as there are some great tracks. Western Star, Bad harmony, Billy Radcliffe, Skeleton Man and of So bay are all some of their best in my opinion. |

It reminds me of the time a drove 1200 miles by myself to see a girl that dumped me.
I listen to pistolero almost the whole drive
Especially the intro to the song, when all alone driving in the middle of nowhere where you've never been before and it's getting dark...
makes me think about that drive everytime I hear it...
And how the song ends up, this is a masterpeice, I accept no other opinion.

Little Black Francis, "the middle of nowhere" album by Orbital would be great in that situation. I was in a car listening to that after a serious binge of a weekend away in a coastal house, clonakilty, 3 of us in the car all seriously fuct, even driver. Listening to this album in pitch black of night driving dangerous cliffside roads. We knew it was stupid and wrong but thats why it felt so good. Thats a few years back and i wouldnt trade the journey for the world but it could have easily taken a different turn and it has for one i know. Never drink behind the wheel, honestly. And if you do, wear a condom

I've been really into Pistolero lately. Especially cause I just got dumped (2 year relationship)... For some reason its just a perfect album for that. Little Black Francis, I hear ya, your story touched me. Every night I go home from work, from the job I got for her (she complained about me not having enough money and her having to buy dinner all the time, etc), on the J train, which is an above ground train that takes me through Brooklyn and Queens, and I look out the window and damn that song just runs around my head too.
Long live Pistolero.

Hey Jordo, I read your post about the J Train, I used to ride the E or F Train when I worked in the City and lived in Queens (Glen Oaks, 74th Ave., just off Northern Blvd) Later, my first wife and I moved into the City (1st Ave, between 82nd and 83rd streets), however, after she "fell in love" with someone else (heartless bitch, sorry, my feelings are still hurt, not that I would ever want her back, she later tried to get me back, but it was too late, it's just that the rejection, the unfaithfullness, and the deceit was very painful for me) we separated, I stayed in Manhattan and she moved to Kew Gardens, in a studio apartment, right across the street from some little bar that Rodney Dangerfield used to hang out in (I don't remember her address, blocked it from my memory I guess) A few years later I got the hell out of Dodge, came back to Nashville, went back to college, and I've never regretted any of it.
Anyway, read your post, it brought back some memories, wanted to post to share some experiences, and you know, it's been quite therapeutic, always feels good to exorcise demons from the past.

| Oh Yeah, Jordo, I know about Kew Gardens. My wife moved there (I stayed in Manhattan) when we separated. Her sister lived in a "rent controlled" apartment building and when a vacancy came up my wife got it. It was at the corner of Austin Street and Lefferts Blvd. Great old pre-war building, elevator service, and the rent, thanks to "rent control" was less than $400 per month for the studio. |

Yes, Austin Street and Lefferts is near where I live. My friends work at the comic book store on Austin and Lefferts, and also the movie theatre on Austin and Lefferts... nuts.
Anyway, now the girlfriend I was talking about wants to get back together... so now I'm confused (yes or no?) and I don't know WHAT frank black to listen to!
