"Labor Day" - The Dead Milkmen
On my TV screen
Every Labor Day
Fuckin' Jerry Lewis
Make him go away
Make him go away
Make him go away
He's fucked up my labor day
Make him go away
One, two, three, four!
Jerry Lewis
I'm comin' to get ya
You're gonna run, you're gonna hide
Jerry Lewis
This squad's gonna get ya
And make you commit TV suicide
Give him 24 hours
He'll do what he please
He'd be on welfare
If it weren't for this disease
His eyes get red
And his face gets mean
I guess that's what you get
When you take amphetamine
One, two, earth, shoe!
Jerry Lewis
I'm comin' to get ya
You're gonna run, you're gonna hide
Jerry Lewis
This squad's gonna get ya
And make you commit TV suicide
In France they appreciate me
In France they know I'm a genius
(stupid Jerry Lewis noise)

If you watch Dave as much as I do, you begin to understand that he treats some people rudely. Like he's more important then them, you will notice this with specific celebrities, you would think he's joking around - but he's not.
Also when he talks with people from the audience some times he isn't really kind, and it is funny, but it's not really "laugh with me" kind of funny, it's more "laugh at me" kind of funny.
I think you know what I'm talking about though, one thing is clear however - I hate Jay Leno.
i watch dave more than you do, trust me. you said you were 15, right? so all of this "dave's an asshole" stuff is purely hearsay on your part, unless you've been checking out reruns of the old nbc show. dave is too easy now, too nice, too middle of the road. give me one example of dave being rude to a guest in the last five years. the thing with crispen glover happened before you were born.
one of the things i used to love about him was that if some idiot model would come out with a ridiculous hairdo, dave would have the balls to ask "what the hell is going on with your hair?" it's not his job to suck up to vapid actors with egos bigger than the state of california (though he does do it frequently nowadays, much to my dismay).

Classic Dave is on Trio late at night, and I'm not talking about with just celebs. I'm talking about with audience members, he seems to push himself ahead of them.
Personally, I prefer classic Dave. I remember when he usta' go to McDonalds and work at the drive-through. I remember seeing a episode where had told a guy ordering a hamburger that they had run out of lettuce and asked the guy to go pick up some for him.
The guy came back with a bunch of lettuce for Dave. |

you prefer 'classic' dave but you think he deserves to get kicked in the head because he's a dick? right. out of curiosity, what do you mean when you say he 'pushes himself ahead of them'? give me some examples. he doesn't let them prattle on endlessly (because that would be boring as hell) but i can't think of any instances of him being outright mean to an audience member. i think you're mistaking sarcasm for hostility.

No, no no. If you ever watch "classic Dave" he is very polite, now it seemse like he just dosen't care. Sometimes he'll be talking with audience members or people from the street or whatever and he'll say some hurtful things, it's not sarcasm and it's not any sort of in-joke. I think it's just rude, but that doesn't stop me from laughing.
I was watching a episode one time when he had said something rude to a lady (I forget what he said) but it was during the "Audience Show and Tell" segment, anyways the audience started booing at him. I thought they would've edited it out or something, but apparently not.
But sometimes I get the feeling that "he pushes himself ahead of them" by trying to act like he's much more important then them, and sometimes he'll ask questinos that he really doesn't care about. Usualy with his guests he will never do this, but with audience members he'll be rude sometimes.
I don't know, I've just noticed this over the time of watching the show. He can be a dickhead sometimes, so I think he deserves to get kicked in the face. It's like people go to his shows not to be ridiculed but to laugh. |

classic dave was not polite. classic dave was an asshole and he was glorious. i long ferociously for the classic dave bitchiness, it was hilarious and the people on the receiving end always deserved it. but alas, that dave was forced to go the way of the dinosaurs because people such as yourself thought he was being too mean. one woman actually sued him for damages when he claimed, jokingly, that her dog had been surgically altered to walk upright during stupid pet tricks. so now we're left with tame dave who is the most amazing broadcaster on television but is frequently more boring than a sack of dead monkeys.
i still can't remember him seriously picking on the audience, certainly not recently. i need a more concrete example than 'one time he was rude and they booed him.' keep in mind that he is much more important than them, being the host and all.

I'm sorry dayanara, I forgot - David Letterman is your lauhver.
I'm not talking about being rude in the face of comedy for a laugh, I'm talking about being rude just because you can. There is no excuse for that kind of behaviour.
I still enjoy the guy, you can't blame him though. He's too old for a late night show, I think old people are always unhappy, especially when you keep them up that late.

and i again ask you for an example of him being rude to the audience just because he can. was he rude to richard simmons? yeah. was he rude to shirley mcclaine when she was talking about her ability to communicate with dead people? yeah. was he rude to paris hilton? no, but he should have been.
but you're right, old unhappy people deserve to be kicked in the face.

The funniest thing I've ever seen in my life was when Richard Simmons came on stage dressed as a Turkey suspended by wires, then David Letterman got a fire-estinguisher out and sprayed it at him.
Then later on he sarcastically apoligised on air for doing so. Now I would did the same - that is not rude; that's self defense. |
