I watched this movie last night, when it first started I was like "Maybe this won't suck so bad" then the guy got out of the bathtub and turned everything to shit.
From there things just started going down-hill. "WORST... ACTING... EVER!", some of the people I watched the movie with didn't agree. Saying "Well, they would probably be crazy in a room for that long!" but truly, that is honestly the worst acting I've ever seen in my life.
For example, the acting in "Open Waters" was better then the acting in this movie, and "Open Waters" is the "WORST... MOVIE... EVER!". However all of the acting in the movie was said to be done in only one take. Which make sense because it totally sucks.
I liked the twist though, a friend pointed out that "THAT TYPE OF STAMINA ISN'T POSSIBLE!" but I don't know, I though it was a really good concept for a "twist".
Also, I didn't like the matrix-esq camera pan in the "reverse bear trap scene" it kind of scared me and I didn't know what the hell was going on. It just didn't fit in anywhere in the movie.
Anyone else here see this movie? It was a surprise because it was much better then what I had expected it to be, but I still wouldn't call it "good".
The ol' ultra-violence didn't bother me, but I've heard it's given some people nightmares. |

I usually avoid trashy horror movies like the plague, saw this recently i thought it was damn good in a 'man its so fucked up' sort of way. Acting seemed fine to me, its not like the actors have much to work with in a plot like that. |

That's a good point. It surprised me though, because I saw it as more of one of those flash and stab w/hor(e)ror movies - since that's all you see from Holleyweird. Since that's basically what's being produced now of days, and I don't know why - I don't know who enjoys these movies.
However it is more indie (it premiered at Sun Dance, if that says anything now of days) since from what I've heard it was shot in one building (a warehouse, just like Reservoir Dogs) but there were also holes in the plot...
< SPOILERS >
For instance, why would "Zap" (the hospital attendant) pull a gun on the daughter and the mother and then listen to their heart-beats if he wasn't the sick killer. Like, it didn't make sense. If he wasn't disturbed in any way why would he do that?
Also, I kind of found it stupid how the killer (with a shotgun pointed to the back of his head, on his knees) cut a cop's throat.
But like I said, it was better then I thought it would be. That says a lot too seeing as how when I was sitting down to watch the movie I thought it would be completely retarded. |

I watched it last night and found it to be very very good, highly original and thoroughly enjoyable, a largely unheard of cast did a very good job. imho.

I enjoyed it, very schlockey, the use of nu-metal thrahing music during the more intense scenes is a bit cornball, and it does seem to go overboard in trying to oudo Se7en. But, yeah, it's a decent little nastie. |

Shouldn't all this fascinating back and forth be in the movie thread?
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Catholics |

Well it's definitely one of the best films I ever saw.
KoK, you hated Anchor Man.
You're clearly a berk when it comes to films! It's a travesty that you have a film thread really. |

I saw Saw, and that still cracks me up to say it. I thought it was OK, very very Seven-esque, but pretty cool. I liked the inventive deaths.

I thought the "inventive deaths" seemed more like something a bunch of drunk black trench-coat wearing high school students would come up with. The only one that I liked was the one with the candle and the flamible gell.
Apart from that... the movie had awful acting, I'm sure glad KoK is here to back me up on this. I didn't think it was too original though, I thought it was a fair but it wasn't anything that blows your mind into peices against the wall.
I didn't also like the use of flashbacks and things like that, it seemed like this movie could have been amazing if instead of always taking you out of the room to show who's talking on the cell-phone or what not or remembering a flash-back they should've some how written it differently. |

Bad acting? I don't think you mentioned that before.

You're glad you have the worst film critic EVER to back you up?
Weird!
I didn't know Gavin Rossdale is in Constantine. Is this his first foray into acting? (please, no jokes about him acting like Nirvana etc). |

it just tried too hard to be clever and shocking, masking it's little twists while all the time making it pretty obvious and not that surprising when "the twist" happens
second spoiler
I mean seriously, did anyone not think "that guys not dead" when they saw him in the middle of the room? seriously
