For what it's worth, though, I would second the recommendation for Teenager of the Year.

i will third TOTY, and add that i was a bossy/tromypy favourr before the reunion, and TOTY was and is my fave FB solo.

Dog in the sand, It was really freking hard to get into but the guitarwork in that album just tops the rest 4 me, pistolero and toty would be fighting for second

Welcome the_o, you are really going to like it here.
Chronological would give you a good appreciation of The Man's 9 albums, but if you start out with TOTY (Teenager of the Year) you will have a huge selection of the best rock and roll ever. No skippers here. And, there is plenty of variety, with no shortage of guitars (See Pong, Freedom Rock, Two Reelers,etc..)

TOTY would win with charm and produced guitars, I appreciated if you are talking to me. I just dont know what chronological means. I must be weary of the mind. If chronological means songs like (pong, freedom rock and 2 reelers) i dont think i am chronological. More raw like robert onion, I wan rock and roll, Llano del rio. Oh and bullet, and pong and billy radcliffe and... im gonna be very happy here, lol/// bit half cut, just back from pub but all true. Have st. francis dam disaster on now, a diamond to sing me out

| As someone who loves the Pixies far more than the Catholics, I definitely suggest you start with TOTY or Frank Black self-titled. They are far closer to the Pixies, alternative rock. Definitely don't start with Honeycomb, there is a very good chance you won't like it. |

TOTY b4 FB for me just because i got them in that order and relished it. Was huge Pixies fan myself and was scared when i bought TOTY first coz i thought Frank would not keep up the standard but the heavens opened when i played it even for the first time.
