there is a handbag snatching course on in my local college next month - looks like a very good idea now to get the cash to go.

Oh Diablo canyon 2 - why can't you be more like Diablo canyon 1?

I love the career development loan, I'm off to go kiss my bank manager and decide what to wear.

(and convert 60 euros of course, stupid pound)

60 euro is about a fiver I think.
Can't wait. Just booked time off work.
Anyone been to Lansdowne for a gig before? Is it crap? Has to be better than the Pheonix park anyway. Doesn't it?

Anything would be better than phoenix park - that 30 minute walk back out was an absolute nightmare and we couldnt hear the lead guitar for any of the bands where we were standing. Reckon the gig may be moved to croke park instead?

I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Because I was late, I could hear Pixies playing during that dreaded walk up(too long to even bother running)-I could hear 2 favorites, No.13 Baby and Dead, and I felt like crying!! Ah well, I suppose I could hear 'em, even if I could'nt see 'em playing them!! It's such a long way to the front(which is impossible to get to with such a crush of humanity, anyway) once you get there. That's what I don't like about these big shows. I felt better walking back down, hearing the Chillis playing(and not caring)and eating a ice cream in the warm summer evening glow!!

Yeah, I was thinking it would be moved to Croke because of the Landsdowne refurbishment. I've never been to Landsdowne for a gig, but I heard Robbie Williams from the station(you may as well be IN the stadium when your standing on the platform!!)

Saw REM there about six years ago. Was quite good from what I remember (I was a messy puppy). I remember thinking the sound was quite good but some friends of mine were seated in the stand and said they couldn't hear a thing. Of course, I presume everyone here will down on the field.

Sorry, on a fairly unrelated topic.
Gigs, festivals, etc in Ireland this summer are shaping up quite well. I'm determined to hang on to youth as long as possible and get as many days off as possible to sample all the festivals this year. The Electric Picnic (announced today) looks quite good. Worth going for Flaming Lips alone. Not huge fan of their recorded stuff (certain songs here and there) but the best live show I've ever seen. No cynicism, pure fun. This also seems to be general theme of Electric Picnic. Other notables (for me anyway) include Nick Cave, De La Soul, Arcade Fire, Mercury Rev, Kraftwerk, Toots & Maytals and Goldfrapp (yes, I've mental varied taste). Should be good. Line up for Witnness could be better but always worth a weekend.

The line up for Oxegen is pretty good, I'd only be interested in seeing a couple of the bands, but it's a good effort all the same.

Oh, by the way, in regard to the refurbishment of Landsdowne;

Ha ha, I guess I can't have it all. I'm not even considering going to Oxygen this year. Went to see Frank at the second Witness I think, back in the day when the band line up was actually interesting, saw the White Strips with twenty people in the tent. Havn't gone since it became Oxygen. Electric Picnic sounds good though, we need something to rival the evil homogeneous coperate festivals ;).

I know it's a big venue, but I'm very excited.
Was stone cold sober for last year in the Park, think I may have to get mildly pissed this time.
And I can pub crawl to and from the gig. Marvellous.
Fair play Chineselover, never doubted you. Don't suppose you have any idea if there will be any more support acts added?

Thanks to Bazza for waking me up and alerting me to the tickets. I would have missed it again and been on shit-bay in true despot style.

Got my two tickets tonight - what's with the seating business. (Do they know I'm old?)

Row 4 - Seats 133/134 Hope that's not 4 from the back!!

See you all at Bewleys Ballsbridge?

I'm not trying to spread a rumour, but confirm that there is actually a rumour: Did anyone else get asked about a possible Ambassador b-sides gig or was my friend just trying to get me excited.

It didn't work by the way.
