Feeder at Portsmouth Pyramids Centre, I guess about 1998/9. To be fair, this was just before their second album and the band were passably ok, despite sucking almightily now. It was more the excitement of a first proper gig.

Darwin, That was a great tour. 10,000 Maniacs opened up for them. Oops, actually I'm thinking of the next year I think. I heard stories about your tour that the band was really partying hard when they came through my school and the show was a little wheels off. I only saw them in 87 or 88 I think. Great shows.
My first was Van Halen. I bought a Van Halen necklace and a concert T shirt and thought I was so cool.

The show was supporting Lifes Rich Pagaent and Guadacanal Canal Diaries opened for them. It was a good show but half way through the show they walked off because of too much pushing out on the floor and then came back with a nice version of Hyena. I was in heaven because I had just moved from Texas (where there was never a decent show in my town or anywhere near it) to California and REM was by far my favorite band at the time. I thought I had made it to the big times. |

Soundgarden, White Zombie, Mudhoney and Pennywise in Dublin in 1995. Mudhoney were wonderful, Soundgarden were pissdrunk and didn´t seem too bothered with the whole being-musicians thing but I had nothing to compare it to and thought they were great.

a double bill of maiden and twisted sister when i was 12. my brother who was sixteen at the time went with his friend but drove me and a buddy as well. it turned out that my bro got hammered, fell down some stairs at the arena, and was picked up by the cops. when i met him outside after the show to get a ride home my parents were there and said "your brother got a migraine headache and we had to come and pick you up". i was so naive that i believed them. didn't find out the real story until a year later. good times. (the show rocked and eddie was a big hit with the kids.)

VoVat, Valley Forge Music Fair is no longer there? Is it now Verizon Amphitheater, or is it gone altogether? Sad, sad. |

It's totally gone. There's a Barnes & Noble there, I think. Or maybe it's a grocery store.

Did he?? Hmm don't know. I would put it at either 84 85 or 86. If those are one of the years, then yes. |

The pickings were slim growing up in SA - first gig there was No Friends of Harry. My first gig in the UK was Everlast - I think I was one of the only few females in the crowd and also one of the only people who hadn't arrived on a skateboard. First gig I paid for in the UK I'm proud to say was seeing Frank Black and the Catholics.
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A California Dreamin' on such a winter's day
