though the Pixies may be touring in 05, are there any new words abt. upcoming solo FB shows? In-store appearances for the new albums (FBF or Honeycomb) or anything?

Sorry Tobafett, I haven't heard anything about solo stuff as far as appearances go.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I've also heard won't be touring to support Honeycomb. Sorry, man.

I wouldn't be surprised if by March of so the itch to get out and jam with the boys doesn't get a hold of The Man.

And, you can bet that I'll keep my ears and eyes open here in Music City USA, the home of Honeycomb, for any album showcases or quick notice shows in any of the local clubs. You know its a small town and everyone is either in the music business or has friends that are. Mine connection is the latter. But I do have a connection to some of the musicians that played on Honeycomb and I'll find out whatever I can.

But, you know, our friend Jon is really our best source for inside information. Maybe he will let us know when Frank is going to play the first few showcases, or warm-up shows. I really enjoyed all the inside scope that he has shared to date. You know he posted on the "Is this the official track-list for Honeycomb" last week and answered some questions that I had about the musicians on Honeycomb. Definitely look forward to hearing from him again.

A solo show in the UK would be brilliant. Hey, there are some fans who'd even pay to watch the Man go grocery shopping.

It wasn't really a rumour, just what looked like a typo on the ticketmaster website. But you're not imagining things.

Thanks OldManIn a CoffeeCan, thanks! Hey, if you hear of anything and feel like giving me a heads up if there is anything going on Feb 18th - 22nd, because we will be about one hour away from Nashville. Thank you!

Daisy Girl, absolutely, I'll be glad to give you a heads up and I'll certainly post anything I find out, and I expect the same from you and everyone else in the Forum. If anyone hears about a show, they need to post it ASAP.

Hey, it sure is good hearing from Jon again, isn't it. I am enjoying the questions and answers on the "Is this the Official Tracklist for Honeycomb" thread.

By the way, concerning your last post on that thread regarding taking pictures of the studios, Jon must have misunderstood you (Jon, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure you will) and thought you were wanting to go inside meet the staff, go on a tour of the place and maybe help out with a session or two. I understood you to say that you wanted to drive by and take photos without intruding uninvited.

Thanks Oldmaninacoffee can!! Will do, if I hear anything, which from me is doubtful..but if I do hear, I will post here first!

Yes you are right, just looking for something maybe a picture from outside the studio :) I am guessing unlike Sun Studios, it's not a museum that gives tours and actually is a working studio-- wouldn't want to bother the people there! Thanks again!

Hey, Daisy Girl, you wouldn't believe what I saw today.

We were driving down 17th Ave. South to p.u. my brother for the Vandy vs Kentucky basketball game, and attached to 2-3 telephone poles were flyers for an Ellis Hooks show. I couldn't slow down too much, or stop and read them, but there was no mistaking his name. And, just think, I would not have noticed it if it wasn't for the forum, and all of the great people posting here(nice to have Jon with us and I'm sure we'll be hearing from The Man again soon.) Pretty cool, huh?

(And, yeah when you're in town, definitely drive by and get a picture of the studios. How can you not? I mean, we are talking about the place of The Man and his allnight sessions for Honeycomb with all those great muscians, Lyle's charting and Jon producing.)

[OK, sorry this will be somewhat off-topic]

Definitely a Vandy fan! Don't have much to enjoy during the football season, except that I am a closet Tennessee fan (Rocky Top you'll always be home sweet home to me!) during the football season, but we are competitive in basketball.

With Kentucky, I've come to have the utmost respect for their program since Rick Pitino, and now Tubby Smith, are two of the best coaches I've ever seen. And, if you can't beat 'em, (which Vanderbilt can do at Memorial but hasn't won at Rupp, EVER!!!), then join 'em. So, yeah, I'll admit that I am a Big Blue fan.

How 'bout you? Who do like?

Long Live March Madness!!!

Hey Daisy Girl, (Sorry for the off-topic,but it's not as if anyone is waiting in line to post on this topic)

Have you checked out Page 4 of the "FB&the C's B-sides, Etc. Compilations" in the "Frank Black Making Noise" Forum? I found an old post, Feb 2004, from The Man where he started the topic about a double album of Catholic B-sides, live songs, and he never updated us with additional posts. So, I ran across it last week (Feb 10, 2005) and quoted his post and asked The Man for an update on this. And, sure enough, a few days later, on Feb 15, 2005 he responded. Check it out. Pretty Cool, huh?

Oh yeah, and, We beat Arkansas tonight, which put us at 6-6 in the conference. We're still very much a long shot for the Big Dance.

I read where ya'll travel to Ann Arbor tomorrow for a 3:30 tipoff on CBS. You're having a pretty good year. Definitely have a shot at the NCAA if you finish strong in the conference regular season and tournament. How 'bout those Illini? Good Luck!!!

Old Man In a Coffee Can. That's so cool I have to check out your post and The Man's response. VERY cool!!!

You are so sweet about us Hoosiers. Actually, we are having a bad year for us but I definately appricate the good thoughts and optimism!! The cool thing about March Madness is once you're in the dance... anyone can win... and anything can happen. :)

Had fun going down to your stomping grounds. :) Next time, I would like to see more of the sights of Nashville. We did see the Opry Mills for awhile on our way to the airport... but I would like to see more the music scene and bars there next time if we are lucky. :) We drove by the Jack Daniel's distillary which was neat to see.

Hey Daisy Girl, yeah, next time you've gotta go Honky Tonkin down at Tootsie's, Robert's, Legends, etc...They all have live music, both types of course, Country and Western, and they're all great places to have some whiskeys and beer, do a little two-steppin or slow dancin, cry a little if you're feeling blue, and fight a little if you feel like showing your redneck! Actually, they don't allow fighting. All of these Honky Tonks are down on Lower Broadway, and directly across the alley from the Ryman Auditorium (you know, the Tabernacle of Country Music, Home of the Grand 'Ole Opry). When the Pixies were here in Oct. and played at the Ryman, I had a beer with David Lovering in Robert's. It's right behind the Ryman, just walk across the alley and down into the bar, (We lucked out and had great access to the band before the show, but that's another story, which I posted somewhere in the Forum the day after, I'll see if I can find it, it was called "Meeting The Man" or something like that in the "All over the world Pixies Live Forum" I think. I forgot you were coming to town or I would have mentioned this before.
Anyway, we have Georgia coming to Memorial today, and we need this game to get back to .500 in the conference (we're now 6-7). I feel good about our chances today. We're always tough at home, it's the road that's where we usually stumble. I haven't checked to see who you play, but good luck!

Wow thanks Old Man in a Coffee Can for all the great tips! Nashville sounds like one of those exciting places like Memphis where there's so much music around it's magic!! I am guessing it will be at least a year before we make it down there again, but we definately agree that next time we come back we've got to check out some of the nightlife. Thanks again for the tips!

Thanks for reminding me about you hanging out with David L and the band before the show. I remember your posts! That's very cool. :) I will have to check out Robert's just because you guys hung out there.

That's great news for Vandy! Hopefully they will keep it up. The Hoosiers pulled out a win in the 3rd quarter against Mich State. Hopefully they will make the big dance! I really like our coach Mike Davis and I have a feeling this year might be his last if we don't do well in the NCAA tourney :) Two more days 'till March!!!!

Take it easy!
