The thread topic comes off the wrong way. I just wonder what perfume or cologne people use, if any. European guys are more likely to wear cologne than their US counterparts. And some women wear perfume while others don't.
I've always and only worn this, since I was 14. It's floral and light. I wear it every day and I can no longer smell it on myself. So I make sure to put on only a little bit. There is nothing yucckier than being near someone who reeks of too much perfume or cologne.

most days i just smell like soap, usually dove. i figure you can't go wrong with that.
if i'm going out i'll put on this perfume called "clean." it smells like a mix of soap, fabric softener and citrus. kind of hard to describe but very light. i also like a body spray the gap makes (i know, i know) that smells like pink grapefruit and vanilla.

I used to wear that floop. I wasn't very prolific with it either, but then I rarely am.
My favourite for men and women is Jean Paul Gautier. I wear Diesel at the moment (the white one).
I can't stand to smell women who wear Angel 'cos my ex used to wear it (I had never smelt it before) and it reminds me of her. It upsets me to smell it, but all the women in my family seem to be buying it. Quite sad really.

I imagine that a Sasquatch might need some deodorant, maybe a little Old Spice. Just a thought. I could be wrong.

True, its nice when girls tell you you smell nice, although I still don't wear any perfume. Apparently its the twentyfirst century now, and men are allowed to moisturise and stuff, but I tend to go with whatever shower gel I got for Christmas.
Its been known for people to ask me if i'm wearing aftershave. Doy!

the paris hilton perfume is already out, the box even has a trashy picture of her on the front. the fragrance itself has a heady top note of "herpes" and a base layer of "skank."
seriously, it smells pretty foul.

I recevied a bottle of this when I was 19 and it is all I have ever used in proper perfume terms, I only wear it if I need cheering up (like if I have an exam) or am going out:
I got some for christmas which was nice! I couldn't afford to just buy it for the sake of it.
But non perfume wise, as you know Kathryn, I am fond of the patchouli oil and I have some little jars of scented balms.

Sadly, I smell too much.
Err...I mean my olfactory nerves are always working on overtime, which generally isn't a good thing, because ya know, there just aren't that many good smells in the world. I don't usually like perfumes and colognes, most of them make my eyes sting and my nose hurt. I book it through the fragrance part of a department store, then I get dizzy, choke, and get a headache walking by a bath or scented candle type store. Even the ones I like, like L'Occitane. Shopping is already hell, the chemical perfume smells just take it to the 9th circle. I pretty much prefer the smell of just being clean.
I do like the bottles though, and I used to wear essential oils occasionally during high school and college. Frankincense, sandalwood, frangipani, verveine etc., and <gasp!> even patchouli.

I like patchouli too. I don't wear it.
I wonder Apl if you have an alergy to specific types of fragrances.
What I heard is that people are usually either alergic to synthetic or natural fragrences but not both. I am guessing you are allergic to synthetic fragences.
Right now I have been mixing some floral/citrus essental oils.
I also have a citrus thing that I like from Origins called gloom away. I use it to wake up or feel happier.
Most days I just smell like Aveda. It always creeps me out when people tell me that I smell like their hair care products. |

I love citrus. That sounds nice Daisy! mmm, and ginger, I'll have to see if I can find that. I do like Aromatherapy of Rome -they use natural oils.
Yeah, it's the synthetics. I've been around a lot of chemicals in my short 31 years, and I think it's just taken its toll. There are too many chemicals in the daily environment anyway, but I was breathing lithotine and/or turpentine or permanent markers etc most of my life (my mom was an artist too). I just had to give up my oil painting last weekend and it just about made me cry. I couldn't handle the fumes anymore, and I refuse to wear a ventilator mask to make art. I just stocked up on some water soluble oils, so hopefully that works out.

Good luck with that Apl!
I tend to dig the musky scents more than the fruity ones, I went through the whole 'dewberry' phase as a youth and then got into essential oils and balms and I like it much better.
I fell in love with a random guy at a gig once just because he was wearing a paisley shirt and smelt of pathcouli.

I never wore it but I had patchouli incense back in the day.

At the moment I'm using a black pepper and geranium perfume, but most of the time I have to confess to wearing men's fragrances (I'm not a flowery type of girl) - I switch between Helmet Lang and Guerlain Vetivier.
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A California Dreamin' on such a winter's day

I only use some after shave, Acqua di Gio by Armani, the same since I started shaving my teenage beard.
It is very important for a girl to wear a good perfume - it is one of the most important elements of seduction - well, after some other "elements".

Yeah that's the one I was talking about for girls. It's lovely.
I agree with Monsieur. I like women to wear some kind of scent. A neutral smell on a woman is not alluring at all. Obviously though, too much or too strong is a turn off too.
And I think I am the only one here who doesn't know what patchouli is.
