i think we should have a pool (for money, lots of money) for predicting the Oscars..

i guess you can post your predictions if you want to.. but it kind of ruins the competition (and the suspense) because then other people could copy you..
i'll come up with a form (with A B C D E etc..) and the day before the Oscars people can email me personally.. and also send me $100 via paypal.. and then whoever the winner is, i will then forward the funds to that person.

If I had the money to enter and if I had actually seen most of these movies (for being a movie geek I'm never really current), I'd be all about it just for a lark.
It'd be really cool to see Don Cheadle get some respect, but I haven't even seen that movie he's nominated for.

i don't put much stock in the Oscars. but that said, it's still hard not to get sucked in and root for filmmakers you liekd, or get pissed when things win that suck. in the end, it's really all kind of ridiculous anyway..
but i will say this is one year when i'm not entirely offended by the choices... the way the Golden Globes went, and the Critics' Awards, most of them i pretty much agreed with.
at least this year we won't have an overrated film like SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE or ENGLISH PATIENT coming in and stealing the award from better films. it seems like pretty fair choices for best picture at least.

Whilst you're at it, put me down for $300 on Morgan Freedman for best support male, Hilary swank for best female lead, and Blanchett for best female support.
How about another $1000 for Scorsese to take best director.
I want $2000 on Harry Potter for visual effects, $20,000 on Passion Of Christ for Cinematography, $600 on Super Size me for best documentary, $100 on The Aviator for best picture and $400 on Passion Of Christ for best make-up.
