I've been trying to get a big game going on for a while now, but everyone is too busy or doing something over the weekend. A friend of mine has a copy of it somewhere in his closet, amongst his massive comic book collection.
I figure it must be something like heroine, becuase people are willing to give up their entier social life just to play it; it interests me. Anyone in here play allot of D&D?
I'm also thinking of wearing a costume to the game; I'm going for the full effect here... |

And some ambience music, yeah!
Are you talking about the Role Playing Game?
I used to play a lot when I was younger, with a record of 14 non-stop hours. Usually "The Lord of the Rings". I just played D&D once and it was only OK. It needed some cool combat rules. Maybe they have fixed it now.

I used to play when I was young, D&D was my first role play game. I stopped for a long time though and then played Cuthlhu with the ex, that was shit scary.
I keep thinking about joining a group at the university but then I wonder if this might be a bit sad. I wanted to try to teach my housemate but she pulls a face whenever I mention it.
I wouldn't wear the costume though, a poorly lit room is usually good enough!

i was visiting a friend of mine in New York a while back. this is an old friend of mine from High School, who happens to be gay (kind of integral to the story)..
anyway, earlier in the week he told me that on Sunday morning i would have to leave the apartment and go find something to do for the entire day, but he wouldn't tell me why. i was kind of offended, and pissed off that whatever it was that was going on, i wasn't invited. or, he at least wouldn't tell me. so i started thinking maybe he was going to have some massive gay sex orgy or something. it seemed like the only logical explaination for a) why i wasn't invited b) why he wouldn't tell me.
after much persistence, he finally confessed to me that he was having a D&D group over. it was so fucking funny! he's more "in the closet" about D&D than he is about being gay. he made me swear that i would never tell anyone ever, etc.. but of course, i managed to get some pictures of him and the game for blackmail purposes.
me, i've never played. that's for nerds

All the dudes in my high school who played were complete social rejects. (I was a reject but not to that degree.) I always figured D&D was a bit of escapism for them. To me, they will always be "The Dudes with the Funny Dice."

Partially right, BLT. I was a social reject, but not everyone in my group.
And Ï should defend it as one of the most creative hobbies that I know.

I like the idea of ambience music. Maybe I'll light some candles too... I'm going for the biggest D&D effect EVER. I'll take some photographs and post the link here if I ever get around to playing.
Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to get a game going... |

Muwha ha ha, you sucka MCs! No, I'm just really interested in the entier D&D thing, like... I don't know, it's probably one of the most popular board games of all time... so many people are afraid to talk about it - let alone play it. It strikes a chord of interest with me.
Like I said - it's gotta' be something like heroine if people are willing to do it and put aside it's consequences. |

actually, D&D is probably one of the worst roleplay games out there, it's quite pat nowadays I think more of a game for uber geeks and newbies.
Not that I know much about this (of course) but like I said before, as roleplay goes this one is quite good. It's genuinly spooky and makes you think a bit more.

I probably WOULD have played it, if I had had any friends when I was younger. I'm certainly nerdy and fantasy-obsessed enough.

Ha...you guys are such nerds!
Excuse me, I have to go check my Fantasy Basketball team...
1. I am a fsh with no i's. 2. You must be wearing Zubaz, 'cause you're daring to be different. 3. I am a man with 3 fingers...but that doesn't count my index finger nor my thumb. |

Are fantasy sports teams generally considered as nerdy as fantasy role-playing games? I mean, surely killing dragons is more impressive than shooting hoops, right?

Well, we just have to break this down...
Not actually killing a dragon, and scoring points for it (or whatever happens in D&D): 90% Nerdy
Not actually shooting a hoop, and scoring points for it, and feeling superior to your fellow league members: 96% Nerdy
Yep, fantasy sports is proven more nerdy than D&D.
