Stuart Wilde
January 2005
Early in 2004 one of themes coming through from the mirror-world was the deadly nature of tap water that is usually recycled sewage; it’s been found to contain a staggering cocktail of prescription medicines. Then by mid-year the focus of attention was the eventual collapse of soft drinks companies. It’s the aspartame in diet drinks that will eventually be ordered off the shelves. It’s known to be a neurotoxin, which is deadly for the brain. Aspartame is also linked to a sudden upsurge of multiple sclerosis in the USA; the deadly nature of aspartame has been very cleverly hidden from the public.
All of these issues are issues of injustice. It’s not fair to sell people water that will give them serious diseases or drinks that contain a poison that affects the neurological system. Toward the end of the year the focus shifted to meat pies and then sausages and pies. I’m not sure what is wrong with them but they will also turn out to be another horrific scam. I think the problem is the meat industry knowingly includes beef known to come from cattle infected with CJD. Also, to save money the pies could well include dog, horse, rabbit and other rejected meats, mixed in with a bit of coloring and a tad of the real thing to make it look real.
Hot Dog Eating Contest: World record holder T. Kobayashi—Pictured right. {The world record for eating hot dogs is 53 1/2 Nathan's hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes by Takeru Kobayashi}.
I don’t know the full story but meat pies and sausages that come major producers could well be unmasked in the next few months. I think small, specialty sausage and pie makers might be more reliable that the mass producers whose products are on every supermarket shelf.
Strangely the news about the deadly nature of water hasn’t quite broken free from the usual restraints on this type of thing. There is class-action suit against the soda makers for three hundred and fifty million dollars. I don’t think that has come to court as yet. We’ll wait and see. If you can afford it buy spring water and have it delivered to your home you’ll begin to feel a lot better. Don’t under any circumstances drink water like Desani that is filtered sewage, masquerading as pure water. Buy spring water. There is no way to filter medicines from water, they are not particulates, the medicines are dissolved in the water and so they can’t be removed.
If you must eat meat then go to organic meat that is free of hormones, antibiotics and other veterinary medications. It’s more expensive but you could compensate by eating less of it, or none at all, that is very inexpensive. It is rotten karma to kill hundreds of thousands cows so our citizen can wobble across the parking lot to McDonalds. The Bible tells the Christians they can kill and eat anything they want, it says this world is theirs to pillage and consume. There is no mention of love for the animals or care for the planet—sad but true. The irony is that five hundred years from now there will be almost no Christians on earth, less than thirty thousand globally, but there will still be lots of cows, millions of them. Remember, the day is coming when the fat go hungry.
My advice would be to avoid meat pies and sausages and consume as little of the world’s resources as you feasibly can and don’t kill things, that’s the loving and safe way to proceed, everything else is indulgence, arrogance and hatred and unsafe to the extreme—deadly actually.

The family I buy most of my seeds/plants from are pretty vocal Chistians.
They place this on each of the items they sell..
Psalms 104:14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth
They feel as if it's all a gift from God. A reward for their faithfulness and labor.
Good people. Salt of the Earth.

What are your thoughts on it Newo? The articles you post are usually worth a read, but I would like to know your personal views and ideas on the subject as well.
I'm afraid there's nothing we can do to save the water supply at this point. The petrochemical, agricultural, military sciences, war, and pharmaceutical products have made trying to fix it a moot point. Fo example, you should see how many Superfund and Brownfield sites there are in this country, so far removed from the original offenders that they will never be cleaned. And those are just the ones we are allowed to be aware of.
I'm afraid I don't have much hope. Sorry.

i generally buy all organic food these days, but i do enjoy a meat pie from time to time.
and, sorry, this doesn't add much to the discussion but you have to admit it's pretty impressive that that guy ate 53 1/2 hot dogs. if you're going to eat a deadly hotdog, it may as well be a Nathan's.

[I am really sorry to go off topic here BUT I was flicking between the forum and pubmed online looking for papers on ligand/voltage gated ion channels, I was reading through the article and looking at the picture thinking about the kobayashi bloke, my first thought was about the usual suspects and then I thought he looked way too skinny to eat those hot dogs. Then I flicked back to pubmed to look at the list of papers and textbook links it had given me and the first think I saw was: Channelopathy update Kobayashi T. Department of Neurology, Nakano General Hospital. Spooky.]

How can someone eat 53 1/2 hot dogs? That makes me sick...I think you shouldn't live for eating but eat for living.

I htink he doesn't chew them, but swallows them in whole or halves. Do you think that counts as eating? It must just slide in one end and out the other.
I would love to see an x-ray or whatever of this guy while he's scarfing all those souse-torpedos.

It's funny (not literally) 'cos the big media frenzy surrounding cattle infected with CJD has died down over here. There were a few human deaths from the human form reported at the time, but now - nothing. Surely it hasn't stopped? Then again, it's just like the Aids virus, the press don't report on the escalating numbers of infected, so everyone assumes it is decreasing, or almost gone entirely. Some of the public survey findings are quite alarming. People actually believe that they have no chance of even contracting HIV anymore. Quite alarming.

My feelings on the subject are we have attracted a world with Nazis because for other animals we are the Nazis. I´ve turned in my swastika.

But wouldn't this make every animal higher on the food chain than it's prey by this logic a Nazi also?
[edit] sorry I'm not trying in away to devalue people who have chosen to be vegetarian or vegan, and I spent all my teenage years and a few beyond as vegetarian myself. However, I don't like this comparison really, I don't think eating meat is the same as Nazism or even comparable. Maybe slaughter on the McDonalds scale, but otherwise It seems to be the natural order of things. I realise this is a holey point at best and I can't word it better right now.

Have you seen this food chain? Does it have silvery links or golden ones? Paisley even? All I know is some animals eat other animals and some animals don´t, and I´m one of the latter.

I read my dad's Christmas present over the holidays: 'Meat' by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. This guy is a TV chef whos' quirk is that he grows and farms all his own food, and is pretty much self-sufficient, as well as being a highly trained chef. Anyway, apart from being a recipe book, this (huge) book also has detailed descriptions of the ethics behind eating meat, whether it is right to do so, the process by which we obtain meat, etc. Obviously, its pretty biased by his opinion, but he makes some very good points and I'd recommend reading it if you're not convinced about the principles behind carnivore vs. herbivore.
Basically, he describes the processes of intensive farming, and its appalling. Truly horrendous. So one of my New Year's resolutions was based on this book: to eat ethically produced meat. Pretty vague I know, but simply this means free-range meat thats had a comfortable life up until its death. Admittedly its vastly more expensive, which is kind of a pain, but actually the meat is far tastier all round.
So thats my views, I guess. Steer clear of the meat pies, you really don't know whats in them coughmeatslurrycough.

Funny that kittie would use the word "natural" ("the natural order of things") because, yes, I have several "moral" reasons why I have been a veg since 1981, but the most primal reason is that I don't think it's natural, I think it's gross. And I think most people who eat meat think it's yummy. So that's that, I guess.

I knew this would go wrong.
Some animals eat other animals because that for them is instinct. The food chain you can see on any nature program you like, no there are no physical links to follow but it's the way it works. Those animals are herbivores are physically built to be that way, we as humans are not, and neither are many animals.
And as for natural the way we are is to eat meat. From a biological perspective the two easiest (and most touted) examples are those of the essential amino acids (namely cysteine ((essential in disulphide bonding in most proteins)) and methionine) these amino acids we cannot produce ourselves and have to take in. And the whole meat chewing teeth thing.
I really don't want to debate this though.
I did not nor do no wish to IN ANY WAY argue vegetarianism as a bad thing or push the meat eating values on anyone. My main objection in this instance (and I am afraid a thing I have found in about 50% of people who have made this decision) is the associated guilt and what comes accross as accusations of barbarity sometimes.
I don't mean to sound aggressive but I didn't like the nazism reference (I don't know how seriously you mean that by the way) because it implies the attitude that I find objectionable, in accusing my lifestyle choice of being wrong and almost catholic in it's guilt inducement.
I would have kept my mouth shut because I have big respect for Owen and Kathryn but I found it uncomfortable.
