I just picked up Walden and actually I've only finished the first chapter (it's 80 pages!), but I am blown away by this guy. There's literally not a single inconsequential sentence in this book. I don't think I've ever read anybody who I agree with on so many things as Thoreau. And what a great guy too, a steadfast abolitionist during one of the most abominable times in the history of the world.

The only problem I'm having is that the book is terribly written. Not in the sense that I'm not used to the nineteenth century vocabulary, but many sentences are just completely grammatically wrong by any standard and make absolutely no sense. So it's going to take me a while to read it.

Is anyone else a reader of Thoreau? Any reccomendations for other books/essays of his to read after this one? Obviously Civil Disobedience, which I have and plan to read as soon as I'm done with Walden.
