He guys
I just got one of those cd/ipod adaptors where you can play music through a discman/ipod and it will play in your car tape deck. The problem is, my tape deck is auto-reverse...so the stupid thing keeps reversing and doesn't play long enough to here more than 2 seconds of the song. Anyone know how to fix this?
Is it possible to turn off the option of making an auto reverse tape deck? |

Not sure, but I asked Gordon Oogle about it:

A wheels/catch problem? Take it back and get a new one?
PS. Any one else tempted by the new Ipod Shuffle?

I here those IRivers are better than Ipods. Anyone tried both? I have briefly but not long enough to make that kind of judgement.

I'm with KSR.
Flip it over.
Does it go in, like, length-wise or width-wise?

I looked into the Ipod shuffle and I don't think it's worth the money they are asking, because as far as I can see just a flash drive that only plays music. 512Mb memory yet only 120 songs? something not right there.
I have a flash drive that I use for toting uni work to and fro because it's better than floppy crappy's but also for playing MP3's on. It's 256MB got around 80 songs on it at the moment stores all my work, I use it as a dictophone in lectures too. USB groovy, wear it round your neck, AAA batteries that last hours and hours. It just seems a lot better value for money than one of these shuffle gizmos, the only benefit I can see from the shuffle is that it's rechargable.
Plus, it was a hell of a lot cheaper my dad got it me for christmas he picked it up on e bay for around £20 from a Hong Kong based e bay store. I love it. This is it (might be same company by looks of it)

I mean, am I missing something with the shuffle? It's pretty looking I guess!? Nice quote by the way.

Hmmm... it does seem a bit lame in comparison to yours. I think you can use the iPod as a memory stick though.
There is one big attraction - iTunes! Unless I'm mistaken, you can't use any other external devices with iTunes except iPods. Although, if some herb smoking, basement dwelling neuromancer could hack around with iTunes to let you use a Sony player let's say, then I would forget the iPod. I don't own an existing iPod, but I do use iTunes for purchasing, burning, internet radio etc...

I haven't ventured into iTune territory, I'm more of a communist downloader of tunes (free and free to all!) which I just switch over to the flash drive (I call it flashy, brilliant eh?) I still like buying CD's and having a thing to hold and line neatly on a shelf, old fashioned that way, so I refuse to pay for downloads, if I think it warrants the separation of me and my cash I have to check first!
Does the shuffle accomodate internet radio? I was turned off by the whole Ipod phenomenon mainly because of the expense of it (although it must be good because if I try to pick my pops' Ipod up to check it out he growls at me like I'm messing with his best baby) so I don't know a whole lot about it.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't bought that many songs through iTunes. You can use it as a media player/jukebox without ever signing up to Apple or buying anything. I only signed up after I'd previewed Bam Thwok all those months ago. Don't be shy, give it a try.
The only draw back is you need 2000 or XP (or MAC OS natch) to use it. Windows 95/98/ME will not do.
Not sure about the internet radio downloads though. My guess is that you'd have to use a separate utility to capture the radio stream in MP3, then import it to iTunes and load it into the iPod from there. I think that's what they call "Podcasting". What will they think of next?
