Yep, I could put the White Stripes as well. I may already have, I forget.

I was never a big fan because of the amount of airplay/overplay they got, but I was given the chance to seem them live (at Alexandra Palace in London, which is a beautiful big ol' venue). They were superb, seriously impressive for just two people. And loud, was it ever loud. The support band was on at a level suited to the size of the venue, all was well. Jack White came on, plugged in his guitar and turned up the volume, and the building itself shook.

I'm like a lost snail in the night.

For me it's:

The Strokes
The Shins
Franz Ferdinand

I guess the reason for all three is the same: I like to find out about bands when they are small and unknown, not after they're already huge. It's like I want to get in on the ground floor, if you know what I mean.

Radiohead, an engineering student I lived with in Dublin had to drag me over by the ears and say ´No listen, they´re good.´

The Shins are very far from huge.

Well, by "huge" I just mean they've gotten quite a bit of radio play on a station like Live 105 here in SF and have been well reviewed nationaly. Not huge compared to the Beatles or Jesus, but pretty huge compared to say, The Herms.

Yeah but not even when compared to The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand. Anyway it's not really important. What IS important is that you like them 'cos they are an excellent band.
