What are your favorite Frank songs that come in a pair? For example, I thought of this when I was listening this morning to WESTERN STAR and then TINY HEART came on. I love both those songs (especially the moon line of WS and the end of TH when McDave and Frank sing) and I love that they are one after another.
Soooo, what is your favorite pair of Frank songs which come "back to back"?

I wonder if someone's gonna mention Pong/Thalassocracy... Oh wait, I just did!
My pick would be Olé Mulholland/Fazer Eyes. First you got this wonderful epic which ends in a great guitar solo... and then it goes into this amazing song which also ends in an even greater solo! I know a lot of people don't count these 2 songs among their favorites but I just love them both.

Hey Ramona, cool thread, I was thinking bout this last week driving home for miles on end in the dark. this ones gonna get me doing some research, how cool. An excuse to listen to Frank, not that it's needed.
Off the top of my head, Sir Rockaby into Freedom Rock. Or Freedom Rock into Two reelers, I can't decide. |

Avoiding the obvious (Pong/Thallas/Abstract, etc) I always get a thrill on the transition of bluesy "How You Went So Far" to "End of Miles". I can't explain why, it's not like it's a seamless transition, but it just works great.

Probably Horrible Day - Massif Centrale.
Nothing special in the transition, just two good songs.

But Horrible day is on side A and Massif Centrale on side B... I'd say Massif Centrale/WWHFMA cause they're my 2 faves from SMYT.

So isn't it a valid answer?
St. Francis Dam Disaster - Robert Onion? Better?
Don't make me think, I've got a terrible headache.

The Black Rider / California Bound When I listen to the second Black Rider, I have to listen to California Bound or it feels like something's missing! |

Other pairs I like muchly:
DOG GONE/I GOTTA MOVE FAREWELL BEND/SOUTHBOUND BEVY BLD/VALENTINE & GARUDA COASTLINE/MANITOBA
Also, HORRIBLE DAY and MASSIF CENTRAL apply b/c on the CD one comes right after another and that is what I mean by "back to back". Is that unclear??
