I don't know if any of you would remember when I mentioned this game about a year ago (Biofeedback computer game), but we just got it as a joint Christmas (Brumalia/Saturnalia) gift for each other, and we love it.
It's absolutley amazing! The entire setup - game for PC/or Mac, plus sensors and biofeedback unit - was only $140, and it's far more than a heart-rate sensor -it detects heart rate variability and skin conductivity. You ostensibly control the game with your mind (including controlled breathing). The meditative training/exercises are extremely effective. There is also an exercise where you can work with another person at the same time. If you can ignore the cheesier new-agey moments (it's hard to at first -I kept groaning and laughing!), it's well worth it, and a lot of fun!
Daisy, I know you do yoga -I bet you'd love this too! I can't wait to see what other games come from this. This would be an amazing internet game as well.

I've seen this before.
Looks pretty cool.
Won't be my $140, though.

Mine neither, that looks creepy. I think we're in enough feedback loops with machines as it is.

Apl that sounds like so much fun!!! Honeslty, it would be great to get some feed back about how you are meditating -- how effective you are.
You always have the coolest things to post about!
It sounds so cool. I was just telling him about it... I was so excited I couldn't get the words out.
Definately for next year, this is going on my list... if I don't end up geting it for my birthday!! |

Scuse I didn't want to seem grinchish, only if more computer games were like this one I'd say fine but the only ones I see kids playing in netcafs involve them running around with weapons making holes in people, plus to me meditating while wired up isn't something I'm keen to get into the habit of doing, I mean look at the extent to which teevee got its tentacles into our inner lives even, radiation notwithstanding, without the benefit of bodily contact. Add to that most people using these things aren't quite as clever as you, apl. Hope you have fun with your present anyway.
