I have done this here the past two years, and since today is my last day online until New Year's - I thought I would do it again! BE EXCITED!

So, what was the best stuff that happened for you in 2004?

Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and die. The storybooks are bullshit."

I can already say that it will also be the best thing that happens to me in 2005.

Being at the birth of our second child in August was awesome. I'd missed our first child's birth in 2002 as it ended up being an emergency caesarean. This mostly made up for it. Watching child no. 1 grow up can be amazing too.

And actually using what little willpower I have to get off my arse, lose some weight and get fit for the first time in god knows how long has made me feel realy good

The best thing that happened this year, although not exactly for me, was most certainly Brian Wilson first touring, then re-recording, and actually releasing SMiLE.

best of the best:

Pixies show in my home town; and related to this in several ways, a certain member of this forum.
Breeders show in LA.
Appointed permanently to the job I've been doing "temporarily" for more than 2 years.
My first brand new car.
Finally painted both the living room and the hallways and had the floors and baseboards finished in my kitchen.
Finally had my leg problem diagnosed, possible fix in sight, after 4 years of pain.

Took up smoking again twice and quit twice.
Moved to Barcelona from the desert I'd been living in, started a gypsy jazzfunk band. Didn't get as good a tan as I had in the desert but hey there's more things to do here than lie around and cook.
My brother visited me twice.
Started painting again for the first time in eight years.
Got my voice into great shape.
Discovered the pleasures of drifting out to sea on an inflatable mattress.
Stopped watching teevee and reading newspapers and feel a thousand times better and more in tune with how people feel about what's going on without that daily spoonful of fear.
My novel began to grow teeth.
One of my best friends showed me a poem he wrote and it is very good.
Found a stray dog, the most goodnatured creature I've ever met, named him Thelonious.
