you experience them as i have found.

of course this is also the only band that is so awesome you need not know the song meaning to enjoy the fuck out of it.

i recently just understood wave of mutilation, anna, velouria, and bone machine all due to recent experiences...

What kind of "recent experience" made you understand the meaning about a song quite literally about mutilation?

one doesn't have to cut themselves to mutilate themselves

they could choose paths leading to more and more pain

one doesn't have to avoid telling about their recent experience to give an answer

they could, like, tell more

You might interpret it intuitively or some such thing...it sounds to me you're talking about masochism, emotional or otherwise. Is it just because it has the word "mutilation" in it?

Anyhow, I don't think there are any grand, final interpretations from certain Pixies songs like Wave of Mutilation. Lots of lines are referencing events and such, but it's a pretty open song with lots of things to take away from it.

I was mutilated by a wave once. No more body surfing for me.

I think Frank has said that he didn't intend "Wave" to be a disturbing song.

Once a wave sent a surf kayak flying into my forehead. That was a wave of mutilation.
