Frank Zappa - Hot Rats (1969, I think?)

There's only one song with any lyrics at all. My brother has a huge list of albums titled this way.

Actually, if you listen really closely at about the 3:47 mark of Into the White, you can hear David saying ("Com-Plete-B-Hy-Phen-Sides" (à la P-I-X-I-E-S in Cactus).

That is great! I laughed out loud.

XTC named a few of their albums after phrases that came on the previous album.

Nonesuch - from the lyrics to "Chalkhills and Children" on Oranges and Lemons

Oranges and Lemons - from the lyrics to "Ballet for a Rainy Day" on Skylarking

There could be more, but I'm lazy

Will I ever reach 1000?

I've heard that "Apple Venus" was the only XTC album to be intentionally titled that way. The previous two had been coincidences, but when people pointed them out, Andy Partridge went through the lyrics to "Nonsuch," and came up with "Apple Venus."

Genesis did this with the album 'Selling England by the Pound' - The lyric is taken from the track on the album 'Dancing with the Moonlit Knight' (1973 I think).

Yeah, he's (they've) done it a lot: "Pretties For You" (from Mr & Misdemeanor, which was unreleased at the time), "Easy Action" (from Still No Air), "Special Forces" (from Who Do You Think We Are?), "Zipper Catches Skin" (from I Better Be Good), "Raise Your Fist And Yell" (from Freedom, and yes it's cringeworthy) and probably more in the last 20 years.

Van Morrison used to do it a lot too (name LPs after lines, that is...): "It's Too Late To Stop Now" (from Into The Mystic), "Veedon Fleece" (from You Don't Pull No Punches But You Don't Puch The River), "Common One" (from Summertime In England), ""No Guru, No Method, No Teacher" (from In The Garden), "Poetic Champions Compose" (from Queen Of The Slipstream), "Avalon Sunset" (from When Will I Ever Learn To Live In God? and later Avalon Of The Heart)

...and quite a few others:
Tom Waits "Nighthawks At The Diner" (from Eggs & Sausage)
Randy Newman "Good Old Boys" (from Rednecks)
Richard & Linda Thompson "Pour Down Like Silver" (from Night Comes In)
Dexys Midnight Runners "Searching For The Young Soul Rebels" (from There There My Dear), "Don't Stand Me Down" (from The Waltz)
Red Hot Chili Peppers "The Uplift Mofo Party Plan" (from the Organic Anti Beat Box Band)
Rancid "...And Out Come The Wolves" (from Junkie Man)
The Hold Steady "Almost Killed Me" (from Killer Parties), "Boys & Girls In America" (from Stuck Between Stations)
Creedence Clearwater Revival "Willie & The Poor Boys" (from Down On The Corner)
Greg Brown "Slant 6 Mind" (from Whatever It Was)
Loudon Wainwright III "History" (from 4x10)
Sexsmith/Kerr "Destination Unknown" (from Tree-Lined Street)
Oysterband "Deep Dark Ocean" (from Sail On By)
Iron Maiden "Piece Of Mind" (from Still Life)
AC/DC "Blow Up Your Video" (from That's The Way I Wanna Rock'n'Roll)
Bad Religion "The Process Of Belief" (from Materialist)
Tom Petty "Hard Promises" (from Insider)
The Wallflowers "Breach" (from Letters From The Wasteland)
Nick Cave "The Boatman's Call" (from Lime Tree Arbour)
and we mustn't forget Manowar "Into Glory Ride" (from Battle Hymn)

I think Jesus titled his first album "Blessed Are The Meek" from the song "Sermon on the Mount". He was probably the first one to do it.

Makes sense to name albums this way. Come to think of it makes little sense to name an album after one of its songs.

I agree. It's best when it's a word or phrase that's only mentioned once on the entire album.

Still looking for an example older than '69 (Hot Rats and Willie & the Poor Boys). Someone mentioned the V.U. album but that cannot count cos there is a track on it called "White Light/White Heat".
