My better half does most of the spending in our household. However, over the last 4 days I have purchased:
1 no. pinball machine
2 copies of the Independent newspaper
A rather poor cheese and tomato sandwich
A bottle of sparkling water
1 no. flapjack (average quality)
1 no. return train ticket from Newark to London King's Cross + zone 1 on the underground
The Sunday Times (about 20% read so far)
A replacement set of wiper blades for my car (top quality Bosch)
1 no. sludgy brown cup of coffee from Baker's Oven with a lovely chemical aftertaste

Yesterday? I think all I purchased was some vending machine food. Oh, and I paid the turnpike tolls.

I purchased = zilch. nothing. not a thing. i didnt even leave the house.
Now I do as I please and lie through my teeth. Someone might get hurt but it won't be me. I should probably feel cheap but I just feel free and a little bit empty. No it isn't so hard to get close to me. There will be no arguments. We will always agree. And I will try and be kind when I ask you to leave. We will both take it easy. But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me. |
