This is pretty fucked up. I'm not into heavy metal and didn't know that guy, does anyone know the band (Damageplan)?

I just read this, im not a pantera fan either, but this is sick and hoirrible.
Now I do as I please and lie through my teeth. Someone might get hurt but it won't be me. I should probably feel cheap but I just feel free and a little bit empty. No it isn't so hard to get close to me. There will be no arguments. We will always agree. And I will try and be kind when I ask you to leave. We will both take it easy. But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me. |

Yup. That's our wonderful new home town. Very sad and disturbing.
Never been to that venue, but usually you get a real serious pat-down and search these days, especially if you're a guy. He had a friggin' semi-automatic!
I like how those Homeland Security dollars are being spent. oh yeah.
chemical flood if we accept that emotions and thoughts are translated instantaneously into chemicals, we are shocked at the bathing process that flushes our insides and outsides - posing as needs and desires. in addition to the ordinary caffeine and nicotine fix, there is a specific chemical addiction for “I overate yesterday” “how can I win so-and-so’s attention?” “I remember when we blah blah blah” “I need to buy whatever for the apartment” etc. all this and we haven’t even opened our eyes. then it hits you, these aren’t the thoughts of someone who is free. |

heres the BBC link by the way : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4081073.stm
the ABC news makes it sound much more exciting.

The gigs I've been to recently haven't bothered searching my bag even, I mean I got a huge camera into the pixies gig and numerous bottles of drink into others, If anything security is worse, I remember my old shove your camera in your pants groped by a butch lady security woman days, It's somehow less exciting if I'm not smuggling it..
.. but I digress.. semi-automatic is totally bizzare

yeah, i know what you mean, when i have a bag or something at a gig, they have a lame feel arpund, take out things like books and look at them , but not even notice if i had say my knife, pen knifes, beer wrapped in jumper...all sorts. hopefully this will tighten some security up, and give venues a wake up call tot heir responsibility.

It's all just so sensless.
I used to be a Pantera fan back in my misspent youth. I just hope this doesn't have some kind of crazy knock on effect with live music with bands being too scared to play.
I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was just some b*stard with a torch, bringing me more work. |

on a somewhat freaky note, on this day 20 years ago:
The Esplanade at Sapphire Street, in Redondo Beach (just south of the Redondo Beach Pier): Mötley Crüe member Vince Neil had been partying at his beach home for three days, when he decided to make a run to a local liquor store for more booze. Joined by Nicholas ‘Razzle’ Dingley (a member of the Finnish punk band "Hanoi Rocks"), Neil was heading back home with a couple hundred dollars of beer and alcohol in the car - and a personal blood alcohol level almost twice the legal limit. He swerved around a parked fire truck, lost control of his red '72 Ford Pantera, and ended up on the wrong side of the road, where his car smashed into a white Volkswagon. His passenger, 'Razzle' Dingley, was killed. A young man in the Volkswagon was left with brain damage and paralysis. Neil escaped with minor injuries, and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter. Amazingly, he got off with just a 30-day jail sentence, to be served after finishing a rock tour

...a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and hockey jersey walked up to the stage. The man in the jersey climbed onto the stage, started yelling and shot the guitarist...

This tragedy is just another sign that the US is headed into pretty bleak times. Sports riots, road rage, concert shootings, etc... seems to me folks aren't too happy about the current political and social climate around here and snapping out. This comes 3 weeks after seeing some dolt come on stage at the Aragon during 'Gigantic' and mumble into FB's mic. Almost funny at the time, but now I would expect Frank to give the next chump a mouthful of Telecaster before something else happens, No??

National ID cards and PATRIOT 2 are also on the way. Soon our country will be as much fun as the Soviet Union in the '60s. Yippee! |

The dog or the guitarist? Both had bad gigs. The dog, I believe, burned up in the atmosphere. |

or worse, a crazy knock off effect where sociopathic assholes start bringing guns to shows and shooting people.
i imagine if i were one of the people who witnessed that first hand i might not ever want to go to a show again

Is that Rick Astley???
It looks like he did it because he was pissed dimebag busted up pantera. Isn't the new band basically pantera minus the singer? Crazy.

I heard this on Virgin radio in Our Price. Quite a shock-I'm not a big Pantera fan(they had some good songs), but it's pretty awful, especially that a few audience memebers were killed too. So he was a disgruntled Pantera fan? It raises the old gun control issue...he got into the club with a gun?

According to news reports he snuck around security and ran to the stage. That is why security was chasing him to the stage. It is obvious now why he didn't want to be searched by security.
I'll make sure I leave my gun home tonight. There is your gun control.

Man I feel bad for those guys..... it's just senseless bullshit. I was tempted to say 'Only in America' but we had Dunblane happen nearly a decade ago which was the most shocking thing I have ever known. They have got to do something about gun control.... mind you it is probably too late for that.
RIP to the guys who were killed last week.
