In case anyone is interested in hearing about my amazing Pixies adventure, here it is.

The wife and I headed out Wednesday to see them in Lowell, which is a 2+ hour drive. We got there early and got excellent seats. The Pixies were absolutely mind-blowingly amazing. I can't stress that enough. They had their longest set list off the tour, even opening with Winterlong.

Went back to Lowell the next night after crashing at a local friend's house. The set was a little shorter but for some reason the sound was better that night.

Left the next morning for Philadelphia. 8 hour drive. Stayed with friends again. Slept a long time. Got to see what a great city Philly is and then went to the show Saturday night. We had third row seats right in front of Kim. It was, again, mind blowing. They changed the set list quite a bit. Being so close was a totally different experience. Well worth the price we paid for the tickets.

Music highlights: First I have to give it up for The Bennies. I am already experiencing Bennie withdrawal. If you get the chance to see them make sure you do. It won't be a disappointment. Also, Mission of Burma really rocked both Lowell shows. The Datsuns opened in Philly. LOTS of energy. Great to get revved up for the Pixies.

Songs that stood out extra: Gauge Away, Nimrod's Son, Caribou, Tame, Hey and Planet of Sound.

Inportant notes: They changed many versions of their songs, so there were many new experinces for me. Nimrod's Son was slowed down. Joey's solo in Vamos was incredibly enhanced. Charles can still scream. I had heard that his screams weren't weren't as powerful as they once were. That is a myth. He was amazing (used that word a few times, eh?) in Tame. Joey showed again why he is one of the great guitarists. David had a blast and hasn't lost a step. Kim was Kim, an incredible bassist.

I need to thank Pixies. I am so thankful they reunited to tour. This was all gravy for me. My 11 year funk is over. I am complete again. I love Charles' solo music and his stuff with the Catholics. But to me, the Pixies were a truly special band: unique, talented, and nice and loud. I hope everyone gets a chance to see them. It was INCREDIBLE!!!!!

Sounds cool.

I'm only gonna see them once but I can't wait. Tomorrow at Constitution Hall in DC.

Glad you enjoyed it Kathryn. I definitely liked yours. Could relate to the leaving the child for the first time thing. I really wanted to bring our 5 year old daughter, but reality set me straight. Incidentally, I came very close to attending the Montreal show. Thanks again Pixies. You NY people are so lucky!
