Lately a couple of my friends have been saying 'dooooooooo it' a la Ben Stiller. Damn if I can't help but say it too.

You know what I hate? That "git 'r done" shit. Maybe you guys haven't heard this one yet, or maybe you don't come into contact with many rednecks.

i don't know if this has been mentioned but i hate it when people use corporate lingo like
"F.Y.I"
or
"guesstimate"
it's like, why not just say "extimate". that's what you mean. saying "guesstimate" is neither clever nor funny. but in fact annoying.
FYI is just annoying too.

What the fuck?
this could come from a somewhat funny canadian comedy show called the buzz. one of the guys makes a ridiculous statement and then follows it up with "you heard me". sometimes funny, sometimes not, it's usually 2 in the morning when i see it so i don't know. |

Gotta resurrect this thread to bitch about an oldie but a baddie making the rounds:
"sssup?!?!"
My annoyance level is what's up.
Shoot. Now I have, like, four more expressions that annoy the hell out of me.

That annoying phrase about "cursors". I don't know if it's specifically French, but it's one of these stupid trendy catchphrases corporate newspeak seems to spout on a monthly basis. "It depends on where we set the cursor." The type of thing my director is fond of saying. (Last year's was "C'est dans le pipe" [the English "pipe", not the French one], which was probably worse.)

Phew. OK. I was gonna post about an annoying French expression and now the precendent has been set.
It drives me nuts when French-speakers say "vite vite" and do that annoying hand motion like they're running. We've just arrived in Geek City.

"Sweet"
It's ok when some people say it- but that guy from Napolian Dynamite is annoying. Now he's in that new Reese Witherspoon movie and in the commercials when they show him he's saying "Rightous!" and nodding his head and I just can't stand him (not that I completely hated the movie; it just wasn't that funny) and I hope he's never in another movie. |

Calling radiators 'rads' always annoyed me? He he, daft is a pretty normal word around Ireland, but then again, used too much it could become annoying.

I've long wondered what is meant by "the whole is greater than the sum of the parts". What is a whole but another part, unless it's THE universe, in which case it's what? Greater than the sum of its parts? To elevate the whole is to denigrate the part. |

howabout "massive heart attack"?
heart attacks do not have mass.
the coronary blockage that may have caused the heart attack may, but no the attack itself.

Carolyn will back me up on this bristle-inducing one:
"the wife"
To his credit, Mr. Kathryn never refers to me as "the wife" (knows better than to piss me off like that).
Last night, I asked a friend "What are you doing this weekend?" and he said "Dunno. Depends what the wife has planned" and I just about ripped him a new one.

Well, maybe it wasn't HIS wife who was making the plans, but someone else's wife.
