PIXIES are coming home to Boston. After scores of sold-out concerts on one of the most eagerly-anticipated and wildly successful reunions ever, PIXIES announce that they will headline a Boston-proper date - Thursday, December 9 at the Avalon. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, December 4 at 12NOON at pixiesmusic.com, at Ticketmaster outlets including ticketmaster.com, and at the Orpheum box office (located at 1 Hamilton Place). Tickets will be priced at $35.25, and the show will begin at 7:00PM. This will be the first time Pixies have played a Boston concert since they opened for U2 back in March, 1992.

So why does the front page say
Thu 12/09/04 War Memorial Syracuse, NY
Somebody is wrong here... And that's not good for critical pixies situations. :) -roger.

Boston Globe confirms it. It also adds this:
"One of the factors contributing to the delay in booking a Boston concert has been the issue of instant live CDs.
Neither DiscLive, the taping service the Pixies have been using on their tour, nor Instant Live, the service used by local promoter and Clear Channel affiliate Tea Party Concerts, will sell live CDs at the show."
Good old Clear Channel fucking up everything to make a buck.
I suspect the Pixies will add a second show on the 10th when this one sells out in under 15 minutes.

Got mine! Looking forward to seeing the band in a smaller venue-the drums disappeared in the Tsongas Arena Lowell shows. And poor Mission of Burma! Sports arenas aren't made for noisy punk rock. To anyone going: If you hear some idiot doing a Rob Halford metal scream, that's me. Say hi; I'll buy you a beer!

I knew it, I knew it, I KNEW that it was going to happen. The Boston-12/9 show sold out in under 4 minutes. And now the 1st ebay auction has wrapped up with the winner paying over $100 each.
I knew this was going to happen, so I bought extras, intending them to distribute them to solid fans rather than trendy scalping on ebay. Unfortunately, the delivery options suck, and the tickets won't be in my hands until Wednesday evening. I will have to meet you near the venue, before the show to give you your ticket. And the delivery payment is even more ridiculous. So I am asking $55/ticket to cover myself.
If you need a ticket, write me at panamanianschooner@yahoo.com Then I will reply back with the address of my PayPal account. You can then deposit $55 into the PayPal account to secure your ticket. (sorry, not setup to accept credit card transactions) I need the money in the account. Sorry, I tried to play the nice guy earlier this spring and got screwed.
First come, first serve, literally. After my spare tickets are claimed, I will reject further transactions so that your money doesn't change hands.
Hope this works out so the neediest fans get the best deal. See you at the show!

Got mine! Third times a charm I hope. The sound should be better at Avalon. Unfortunately, they always end shows around 10:30 so they can get the club kids in at 11PM. I saw PJ there a couple months ago and this was the case despite the show starting late because of technical issues. Still, since the venue is about as deep as the distance from the stage to the sound guy at Tsongas and Mullins, it should be amazing. Four Marshall half stacks might be too much though...

A4C,
I'm new up here to New England. But I just went to Tsongas last night to see the UMassLowell & Clarkson Hockey game. If only my name were Czar, I could have been on time for my 3rd Pixies show. That's right, this week should be my 3rd time too. I've been having a hell of a time getting this 3rd notch... This will be my 3rd attempt at it.
Are you planning on doing anything before the show? I'm trying to find a place to meet the people taking tix from me. So far, the best place that I've come up with has been the Uno's Pizza about 300 yards away from Avlon. They've got food. They've got drinks. They're close. All ages would be able to get in.
later, -rog.

Rog, That sounds interesting. I'm going with my wife and two friends, but I'll run the idea past them...

Oddly enough... Only 2 of my 3 spares have been claimed. C'mon Pixie fans, claim the last one! I'm not above going to eBay. Just wanted to give a needy fan a shot 1st.
