Well seeing as Frank and co. seem disinclined to head down here (just because you're having a kid Frank is a poor excuse! just kidding....) we need to make our own fun. The 10th-11th of December will see the holding of our Annual FB celebration in Canberra. This time Pixies and Breeders are included, 310 songs and roughly 16 hours of pure gold counted down over 2 days from the lowest ranked to the absolute cream, the plan is to have songs 308-101 on the friday then the top 100 on Saturday. Randoms welcome. Currently trying to work out how the Honeycomb tracks work into the scheme of things....
3rd Annual Australian Frank Black Countdown August 2003 - all involved parties rank EVERY released FB song from FB self/titled to the present - average ranks are calculated - beer (or suitable substitute) is added (mostly in drinking-game form - ie. rate a song well below its average and you drink a punishing amount), then sit back and enjoy a day of frank black....the only problem is quite often memory of the top songs is somewhat limited the next day |

Considering i am a co-founder of the annual Oz FB Countdown, I am very dissappointed that you have chosen a date when you know i cannot possibly be there. Am currently working on a satellite link.
And for those who will be taking it for the first time...try to remember the top ten...i am yet to from any countdown.

Helmut - no problem. Only 4 days til the countdown, been fiddling around with my song ratings, im relatively happy with it now....still deciding on the beer of choice for the event....

COUNTDOWN UPDATE
Well we're up to song 126 of 311 (which happes to be Dig For Fire) and its safe to say im fairly pissed. Punishment for rating a song harshly is full funnel of beer, of which there have been 8 so far (as long as general drinking)
Highlights so far:
"Brackish Heart" rating New House Of The Pope #8 when i had it ranked #277 - needless to say i had to do a beer funnel for that one
Brackish rating Song Of The Shrimp #228 when i had it #76 - i enjoyed watching the pained look on his face whilst he forced down a Carlton Draught
More reports to come (bound ot become less intelligible though)......

have fun with the countdown... did you see the pixies said they might tour again after taking 6 months off? Hopefully, and maybe they might make it down under.

PS you guys have a great country... i've checked out queensland and a sweet island on the great barrier reef it is my fave. place on earth. you lucky ducks!!! I bet you are soaking up the wonderfull summer weather!!!!
