Has anyone else noticed the TV commercial for a birth control pill called Yasmin has music which sounds like it has the same chords as "Gigantic?" Just wondering.

That's strange - I saw a Sony Walkman advert today and I thought exactly the same thing, maybe it's the same song! Anyone in the UK see it?

Well that was my thought, that they didn't want to pay royalties, or maybe were denied permission. It might just be me but it sounds very similar, like the chords from that break where it's just frank strumming. It's close enough that any Pixies freak should be able to hear it, and I'm really hoping someone else here sees the commercial soon so I can read what they think.

Yeah, me too model consumer. I still haven't seen it yet. What shows have you seen it on?? That way I might increase my odds. But I totally trust you though that it sound the same.

It's amusing that a birth control company would use a song that sounds like "gigantic."

This is really weird... There's a Puma commercial right now that ALSO uses some kind of instrumental cover of Gigantic. It's played a lot on MTV, has anyone of you seen it?

It has the gigantic chord progression and the lyrics are something like "any one and every one"...ring any bells?

Model, I saw the advertisemnet of which you are speaking yesterday. The commercial begins with a young woman sitting in a variety of different cars with a bunch of different men, and repeatedly rejecting them each. She then decides on a suitable mate, and a voiceover says something along the lines of "You have a choice in men, you should also have a choice in birth control". I had seen the commercial before, but hadn't picked up on it. This time around though, it hit me. Strange that the progression would not only be of the same chords, but have the same rhythm.

I will never say the word procrastinate again, I'll never see myself in the mirror with my eyes closed.
