You know in Pray A Little Faster, when frank b. sings "look up to heaven, and turn it up to eleven", i can't help but think he got that "eleven" reference from the Spinal Tap movie, for those whove seen it. anyone else agree? or not? |

Here's the reference your talking about:
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and... Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [Pause] These go to eleven.
I agree with you, I think it's a Spinal Tap reference.

I love that dialogue just saw it a couple of months ago for the first time I couldn't believe I would actually like it I think it's way better than other mockumentaries like the Ruttles

On the 2002 tour, FB&C played Shank Hall in Milwaukee. It looks like a converted movie theatre from the outside. It took a friend to point out the name comes from a a venue Spinal Tap played in the movie.
Explains why there was a tiny, stryrofoam looking Stonehenge megalith (microlith?) hanging at the back of the stage. Great place to see a show, BTW. Almost no separation between stage and floor. I got so close I had to try not to look at Frank's head too much, because we were at eye level. |
