I guess you don't play it then there Jimmy... I kinda like it, and I am not a frat boy. The 1 player game is nothing special, but the online play is pretty addictive.
My computer isn't good enough for all the new games, but I used to love Qauke3, SoF2, and all the Half-Life games in the 1st series...
Halo 2 is actually fun, I really like the ranking system Bungie developed.
Anyway, you can make fun of me if you want to... =(

I really wish I could tell what the creative team at id software thinks of Half Life 2. Do they feel owned, I wonder? What does it feel like to be bested at the genre you created by a company that started out using your technology? It must be weird.
I don't feel too sorry for those guys (or girls for all I know). I used to drive by the office building in Mesquite Texas where they headquartered, and I would routinely have to park and get out to check out the rare Ferraris that I had never before seen in person-the kind of Ferraris that they make like 500 of. I don't usually get too jealous, but...

Well I'm getting closer and closer to finishing Half Life 2. Tried Counterstrike: Source tonight, seems like it would be great fun but the assholes are out in spades.

I had some decent experiences with CSS, but even within that, yeah, definitely a few that shouldn't be allowed near an internet connection.

| have to say i am not overwhelmed by half life 2 so far. i find the boat/buggy stuff a bit tiresome. but still better than most games i've played. |

Haven't been on this forum for awhile but caught this thread. The deathmatch is awesome, mostly because I've found I'm actually rather good at it. Want to know a trick to win each match? Try not to use the gravity gun at all. Most of the kids on the servers don't put them down. They sure love their tables!
If anyone wants to add me to the friends list for a match or something: manintheshack

Yeah I noticed that most people just use the gravity gun far too much. We really need to figure out when everyone on here usually plays and try to all play a game together.

"use the gravity gun far too much"? WTF! That's the whole point...what fucking other death match game can you lob a folding chair at someone and kill them? Or perhaps mow down a group of people with a friggin desk. If you don't like it...play all the other million run and gun deathmatches. I, for one, could not stop laughing while I played HL2:DM...just being able to mow people down with a freaking bookshelf...I love it.
Been playing a lot of CS:S too. Lots of fun. Nobody has added me to their friends list for some reason.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

| hah, i'll add you once i give CS:S and HL2:DM a go. up until now i've been busy with the single player. btw, i upgraded to a 9800 pro (128mb, 256bit) and it's awesome. i did a few other tricks like disabling autosave and increasing my heapsize, and i've lost a lot of that stutter that a lot of people seem to get. no one here? |

I've tried unsuccessfully to add everyone that posted a name here. Not sure but I think both parties need to be logged in at the same time to add each other. Who knows such mysteries?
I got my new computer from Falcon Northwest yesterday, you should see Half Life 2 running with full everything. It's incredible.

The only person I had any trouble adding was Jim, who it told me does not exist. I've got everyone else added that's posted their name, but I've yet to see everyone on. How about a game tomorrow (Sat) afternoon (or evening for our UK friends) at 1:00 CST (7:00 GMT)? Anyone in for some CS:S?

I got an OEM card. it was advertised as made by ATI themselves but the product code led me to believe it was a PowerColor one. but i'm not sure. be careful about getting a Sapphrie one. i know that they do a 128bit version which is not as good (a 9600xt might even be better than that). but yeah, a 9800 pro is a pretty good upgrade for the price. grabbed mine for £140 ish http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=5915&GroupID=0

I do. And was that quote supposed to be taken from me? Slander! The gravity gun definitely adds much to DM. Setting up traps with barrels, ahhhh. But those kids who run around looking for furniture to throw at you when you're running circles popping them with the magnum, mwahaha, prime for the picking.
We should definitely get together for a deathmatch sometime but i'm not around this weekend. Pah.
