hope there are no fucking school rock bands who will compete with me...
ANYWAY
so like, XFM... cool london rock station (those who don't lsiten will have probably heard of it) are diong this amazingly cool competion. if you are 18 or under, in school and in a rock band, yuou can submit a song to then. they have to be covers. have to be submitted by 18th. they are then voted on from 18th-22nd and top 5 battle it out live some place. them the winner opens some gig.
anyway, i am sort of in a band. i am a guitarist, and my band consists of two other WANNABE guitarists and a drummer. i also have a bass, and so those other two lame-os can practice i play bass often. anyway. when we heard about this, last sunday or something, we decided we should enter. but we didn't know what to do. the pixies being my favourite band i wanted to something by them, but having generally been a dictator in my band, i wanted to let the othes decide. someone came up with aneurysm by nirvana. i said ok but secretly i was like, FUCK THAT. THAT DOES NOT REFLECT US A BAND IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM! but whatever
so we have two hours rehearsal every wednesday and so last wednesday we got to recording. i wanted to multritrack, so brought my 4 track in and started recording drums. however, tutrns out drummer is shit and can't keep in time. after a whole two hours! so i said FUCK THAT. we only have one more wednesday before the 18th and chances are we'll fuck it again. SO........ i decided we'd make it easier on ourselves by doign a white stripes song "i think i smell a rat" which is prety easy, especially with a 4 peiece band! then i got thimking... what if somehow we fuck it and don't get it done in those two hours? so i downlaosded cuabse sx ILLEGALLY (some music program) and some drum samples (which are pretty shit and fake sounding but fuck it) and started doing the drums for it. then i recorded guitars for it. gonna do vocals tomorrow.
however, i then realised.... well... seeing as i am doing this all by myself, and now have the facilities to do drums without relying n rehearsal time and a drummer, why don't i do a song i like? so i am thiming of revisted a cover i did of caribou by the pixies. i did a simple cover for a bside for HETY album, but that cunt cult of frank never uploaded. nevermind, it was shit. i hope to impriove. much better singer now, i think.
so, basically, i want to say. if i submit a song, either solo (i checked to see if solo coutns as a "school band" and yes it does, someone submiteted a solo seven nation army), i would like you guys to VOTE FOR ME, EVEN IF YOU THINK IT'S SHIT. it would mean a lot to me. it is an online vote so everyone can do it. i will let you know closer to the time.

why dont you sit down with a guitar and do a folk/acoustic nice slow version of debaser or dead or something, that is something you can do alone and is likely to catch the judges eye way more than the thousand school bands doing faithful covers.
