I guess some of the Boston FB fans will not have much to complain about this year. My football (soccer) team, Benfica, hasn't won the championship in 11 years and counting. Each year we seem to do worse than the year before. In international games, we get humilliated all the time. 11 years may sound like a joke to Red Sox fans (what was it, 80 years?), but Benfica is a club with lots of history in soccer, we have won almost all the major european cups and all that, not winning the championship in more than a decade is kind of a disaster for us. Benfica also has the most suporters in Portugal.
So, who else's team doesn't win anything? Does it have anything to do with curses like the Bambino curse? Share... |

They probably won't win it all unless they move to a warmer climate down here in the USA, al a Quebec Nordiques.

It was 86 years since the Red Sox won. I don't have anything to complain about now. The Red Sox have done it, Florida State football has won a few championships, and the Lakers (who I despise) have fallen apart.
Now that the Red Sox have won, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox have the longest dry spells in baseball. Buffalo Bills (American football) fans had to endure making the Super Bowl 4 times in a row and not winning any of them. They have never won the Super Bowl. |

Man, I'm with you, sort of. My team (Southampton) suck the big one, but then, we know it.
Interesting fact: Southampton are the team that have been in the top division second longest, or second longest since last relegated, or something, behind only Liverpool. Take that Man U. Kapow, Arsenal.
However, we're now lying second bottom without a league win in eleven - we sacked our manager on the second game of the season and the new coach has beaten one club - Colchester, who suck worse than we do.
We were good a couple of years ago! We got into Europe, we finished eighth, we were FA Cup runners up... Its all gone horribly wrong.

well i feel your pain. my team olympiakos has the most supporters in greece but didn't win anything from 1986 to 1996 the decade that is known in greece as the "stone years". then we won 7 championships in a row and 3 greek cups. we still get humiliated in europe tho', which is frustrating because we have the players but bad lack and bastard referees always do their part. if you need an example of a team that's the epitome of not winning anything despite their history and money and allstar players consider inter fc. they don't win anything since 1989 and they have changed 90 players and something like 10 coaches in 5 years despite the fact they had people like: ronaldo, roberto carlos, batistuta, vieri, zamorano, crespo, toldo, recoba, seedorf etc etc. a sad sad football story.

Velvety, my son feels your pain almost since he was born, he´s crazy about Benfica...But I´m not, My team is maybe the one you hate: F.C. Porto!
I´m always joking with him about it! Yesterday I really had fun because Benfica is again loosing for Porto! But I don´t really care about Football, in fact I only like to joke with it...so don´t be mad!

I support Feyenoord, winner of the UEFA cup 2 or 3 years ago
they haven't wone the dutch league since 1999
before that it was 1993
and before that one 1984
we are known to be the club of the working class people
they are workers in the field too
we are not going to win this year
the big game yesterday against Ajax (hate them) ended in a draw
so PSV Eindhoven was the lucky third and is right on top.

WORD i'm a lifelong hardcore mets fan. and for the record, both chicago teams had longer dry spells than the red sox before this season. boston's just a bitchier city w/ on the rag fans

pah you all have it good, shrewsbury town beat everton in the cup, but the same season got relegated to the conference, where they struggled but still managed to get back up via the play offs, this weekend they got dicked by some non league no marks and put out of the cup, they will probably be relegated again.

| One other difference between the Red Sox dry spell and the Chicago dry spell is that the Red Sox so often came close to winning but seemed to find "tragic' ways to lose. The Cubs and White Sox have largely just been bad (but the Cubs do have Bartman, Durham's ball, and probably other collapses I'm forgetting). |
