according to countless interviews i've read the band's favourite movie was david lynch's Eraserhead, a surealistic cult movie with no obvious story-line
i've seen it but i can't say it was the kind of film i enjoyed watching. i liked it and i thought it was very interesting but it's not the family film you sit down to watch together on a saturday evening!
i just wondered watch your reactions towards- and opinions on the film where/are.... |

I think I may be one of the very few folks that actually had the pleasure of seeing this film in a real theatre (I was one of only 3 people in the whole place), as opposed to on home video.
That has always colored my perception of it. It's a completely different experience seeing it in a darkened room on a giant screen.
It's like sneaking into someone else's nightmare.

it's been a long time since i've seen it ... but i liked it because it was so creepy and unsettling and almost got to that place in my head at the time that was full of fear of comittment and (still) fear of reproducing... it is a cool creepy movie... david lynch is one of my favorite directors. it was very original, artistic and cool... but you're right charlesthompson... not one of those feel good movies.

I also had the theatrical pleasure of this fantastic film. It's also available to purchase on dvd at Lynch's website, in a beautifully cleaned and restored transfer.
There is a plotline, by the way. It's very simple, but wrapped in absured, audacious, and nightmarishly whimsical surrealism. It's the fears of a first-time-father made manifest! That's it! All the insecurities and doubts that plague a male knowing a new part of him is on the way. It's the male companion to the "WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING" books...but for dudes. Go back with that in mind, and a lot of pieces fall in place.
Fun, fun flick!
