I just got frank black francis
and the demo of ohh my golly tottaly makes the demo disc
those old lyrics are killer
simply great
a lot easier in the ear,
if you know what I mean,
than the lyrics on Surfer Rosa
Does somebody know what they mean
Carlos Lopez around? (spannish alec eiffel guy)
he translated the Surfer Rosa lyrics...
some other spanish speaker?
I wonder why he re-wrote the lyrics
these seem better to me
maybe because they are so straightfoward
(straightfoward is a weird word to use, since
I don't know what they mean, but they seem
to rhyme more and the rhytm is better too, less words etc.)

i speak spanish...and trust me...I don't understand the sense of the lyrics.
Maybe frank put the lyrics only because they sounds good....but anyway... I love this song!!!

I haven't heard the FBF version, but I guess ccuadros refers more to the nonsensical sentences and grammar mistakes than the sense of the whole song. It took me ages to discover he was singing in spanish!!!
Hopefully, he has improved it a lot in those years.
If I can find the song, I'll tell you.

I found out a downloadable version of it. Don't tell anybody. Thanks for the itunes thing, even when it comes too late for Bam Thwok. Listen that, Frank! I wanted to give you my dollar, but I couldn't!
I'm not sure if I'm going to buy FBF. I don't know if I'm that kind of fan.
Sorry, I've lost myself. About Oh my golly! It's tricky! I've got serious problems with two lines, specially the first one. I'm gonna try with a Sound Forge loop.

I hear: Canto a veces (Domingo???) which is spanish for sure. It makes sense with the other lines:

I must say that I was very surprised and thrilled to hear those early different lyrics.The main difference is that he sings "EL DICE,EL DICE,EL DICE TANTAS VECES OH MY GOLLY" which means "HE SAYS,HE SAYS,HE SAYS SO MANY TIMES OH MY GOLLY".He definetly says something about Mango(the fruit)I haven't sat down to try and decipher the rest.Considering the awful attempted translations that existed before I took the task of correcting and explaining most of the lyrics on Alec Eiffel,my versions have been adopted all over the world now and are at least 99%correct untill the day that Charles decides,if ever, to unveil the early lyrics in written form.Well that all for now amigos!!! |

Definitely I can't hear that "EL DICE" or "MANGO" even when my lyrics haven't been adopted all over the world 
That kind of fan means that I'm not in the mood to pay for a demo taken years ago or for some remixes. But I'll buy Honeycomb the first day it appears. I'm that KIND of fan.

I can´t understand it either,the first line you hear something like MANGO, but I don´t think it´s that.

I´ve listened several times and the only thing I know is that I´m going crazy...because I can only listen something like, "Canto passa com mango"on the first line. But that doesn´t make any sense!

I love this thread... i spent so much time in hs figuring out what frank was singing. I was so desparate that i brought it in to my spanish teacher freshman year and she just stood there. i think she was expceting miami sound machine or something like we had been listening to in class.

As Daisy said, he's singing "Tanto vece" (incorrect) instead of "Tantas veces"
I still hear an "i" in the first fruity line (Second verse), so it could be "conmigo" and not "mango" after all.
I don't know if the second verse is different or he just forget the lyrics for a while.

- The whole life is rubbish
- Life is total rubbish
- Life, after all, is rubbish (unlikely)

This is my definitive shitty translation, but I tried to do my best. Feel free to post your suggestions about it.
PS: I show the song to my brother-in-law and his brother and he said: "That's portuguese". We have been cheated!!!

What I said in portuguese is something like:
