sorta kinda. pumpkins had some happy songs. but zwan also had religious under and overtones in a lot of the songs. not everyone's cup of tea lyrically, but billy is a very good songwriter and if you can appreciate the craftsmanship of the songs then it's a great album.

'adore' is certainly his best, though.

Really liked Fear's response to it, though. "New York's Alright (If You Like Saxophones)"

Ha, funny. I'll have to check that out.

That's what happens when such self-absorbed artists fall in love...
Don't get me wrong...I love the pumpkins and Zwan...

I was crying at the concert because the just reminded me of the break-up I was going through at the time the album came out...I used it as therapy. song #5 especially.

If you haven't read Enders Game by Orson Scott Card, then you have to buy it. Unputdownable.

go full scale trash with motley crue - the dirt for reading material and as for music, if you do not have 80s matchbox b-line disaster - horse of the dog (is this getting tiresome from me yet?), mark lanegan - bubblegum and spend the change on getting drunk.

As far as I know. Are you implying that I have some horrible disease that makes me less funny?

I wasn't implying anything dear, I was just concerned, it's most unlike you to come up with a quip quite that bad, nearly as bad, yes

This doesn't help you now, but maybe it'll be of use to someone else. If anyone's thinking of buying any older Cure albums, you might consider putting it off for awhile. Next year, the entire Cure catalog right up to Bloodflowers gets reissued as a series of double CD sets.

I wonder why.

Ah but they do - you nearly had the utterly delicious Mastodon in Sheffield but they landed up cancelling - between Leeds and Sheffield I think we've got a pretty bum deal on the gig thing.

Morphine is one of my favorite bands but everytime I look for their cd's all I can find is their gr hits...and I only buy greatest hits when it's a band whose entire catalog isn't necessary. So I'm still searching... I have The Night. That's all I can bloody well find.

I've been trying to get people to read Frank's World by George Mengels, if you like strange then its a good'un.

I'm hoping to go see Mark Lanegan as well, its one of my fave albums of the year.
Hence:

Mark Lanegan - Bubblegum
The Golden Virgins - Songs Of Praise (admittedly, this may not be available in Canadia)
Jeff Buckley - Sketches for My Sweetheart The Drunk
Godspeed You Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennae To Heaven

I don't read as much as I should, but one I found deeply superb recently was 'Cry The Beloved Country' by Alan Paton.

My brother bought the Morphine greatest hits cause I took the backcatalogue to spain with me and sez he´s not that thrilled with it. I like each of their albums as much as the other, tho Like Swimming was my intro to them and is in my cdplayer a little bit more cause it has Wishing Well on it, my vote for slinkiest bassline ever.
