A valid point, well presented.

if you're feeling ambitious and you do want to try it. just remember that the first words are "oh say can you see" and not "Jose can you see" as i thought it was until recently

lover you should've come over whilst very beautiful will be a bastard to sing and sort of screams "INTENSE" what on earth was mr hypothetical thinking! serenading!
Although. I'm feeling most cynical tonight, I just found out my younger brother is engaged.

Willie Nelson songs.
His first big hit...it got swiped...um...lady sang it...Thank you. It's Crazy (Patsy Cline).
Willie can sing it. It's very pretty. There's that Dylan song, just like a woman. Not exactly what you need? Dark and brooding though. |

"And when the clothes are strewn don't be afraid of the room Touch the fullness of her breast. Feel the love of her caress She will be your living end"
Our friend is not sure this is entirely appropriate, but he finds 'Lay Lady Lay' to be a fine idea.

'Suspicious minds' whilst not perhaps the most 'serenadely' of songs could impress the little lady...you even get the opportunity to do an elvis impression - what more can i guy ask for?
But if you want short and sweet then why not The Pixies' 'Alison'?
I don't suppose her surname rhymes with 'alison' by any chance - that would be REALLY handy (we wouldn't want our friend's ladyfriend to be confused by the song title...)

'Alison' is not even slightly close for this exercise, unfortunately. He appreciates the effort though. Detective work is to commence soon. Our boy has spies checking up single status and is looking into the band situation.

Cheers roller, I was trying to work out if I knew that one. And I don't. The only Kristin CD I have is a live recording, @ Noe Valley, I don't think its on that one.

I finally found a translation to the bridge. Perhaps a French speaking member can verify:
Ce que j'ai fait, ce soir la, Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la
(What I did that night) (What she said that night)
Realisant mon espoir, je me lance, vers la gloire OK
(Realizing my spirit I throw myself to your glory)

Our boy just remembered there's a Bouncing Souls song called Kate Is Great, but the lyrics aren't really apt. Shame, he says.

She plays wipeout on the drums the squirrels and the birds come Gather around to sing the guitar Oh I...have you got nothing to say When all words fail she speaks Her mix tape's a masterpiece Walks through the garden so the roses can see Oh I...have you got nothing to say And you can see the daisies in her footsteps Dandelions, butterflies I wanna be Kate Everyday she wars the same thing I think she smokes pot She's everything I want, She's everything I'm not Oh. I... Have you got nothing to say She never gets wet She smiles and it's a rainbow And she speaks and she breathes I wanna be Kate Down by the Rosemary and Cameron She hands out the Bhagaved Gita I see her around every couple days I wanna meet her so that I can say...hey Kate

It's a lovely song. I wish I was a musician, I'd learn it. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to ever play it live. I've checked the wonderful Beestung but I haven't found a single show where she's played that one. Shame.
You really should hear more Kristin Hersh albums, you know.

First line is OK. The second one would be: Realizing my hope (not spirit, that's "esprit"), I run into glory (or something. I can't translate that part correctly. He's like running towards glory. How would you say that?)

I'm working on it, cheers mate. Hips & Makers is pretty much next on my list.
Our friend's latest idea is to subsitute 'Katie' for 'Amie' in the Damien Rice song of that name.

Well he should have noticed you were drunk before singing his song. It was obviously not the right moment to do so.
I'm thinking of how you told the guy "I didn't mean to throw up!". That must have been very comforting.
