So, what does everybody think of the new Tom Waits album?
I though it would be slightly shit from the first track but, by God, it goes uphill from there. Steeply uphill. "Shake It" is my favourite so far...

It comes out Tuesday over here. From what I've read about it, it sounds like it might be one of his best.

Well, I was very impressed with the album. He has once again completely reinvinted himself and, unlike Blood Money, it doesn't sound like he is trying too hard to make a Tom Waits album (which is what Sonic Youth tend to do for most of their albums...). I was very impressed with the vocal percussion stuff, and it really helped out with the feel of the songs. I can't get enough of "Don't Go Into that Barn" and "Dead and Lovely" manages to be classic Waits, yet with only guitar, bass, and percussion. Mark Ribot is once again amazing on lead guitar; his style fits perfectly with Waits's songs. My only complaint is that Les Claypool only appeared on three of the songs, and Sins of My Father is way too long. That's my two cents for now. BUY THE ALBUM!!!

It was playing when I was in the record store a few weeks back. It was quite insane music from what I remember. I mentioned that they had been playing a Tom Waits album in the store to a Waits-obsessed friend later on, and I tried to describe what the cover looked like and nothing was registering with him, so we went online, and whoa, to our surprise, Mr. Waits had a new album coming out soon.

Inna zany combination of Wayne's Pet Youngin'!

I love it. How cool is the cover art? Tom Waits must have painted each cover himself!

His voice is so low and beautiful in "Green Grass." Alot of the rhythms are exceptionally great too. Ah, need to listen to it now!

Damn I need this album. Friend left a message yesterday telling me to buy it. If only I could have it now.

I just wanted to let you all know that there is a great interview with Waits that discusses his new album, among other stuff, on NPR's "Fresh Air" right now. You can listen to it online if it's too late to tune in (already been on for a half hour).

Just go to "Current Show" at the upper left, then click the "Listen Now" button: www.freshair.npr.org

If it's already over, you can go to the archived show tomorrow (Sat).
