hi folks,
i have the idea of a official fb.net t-shirt. it should look like the following:
FRONT (oh, those were the days!):
BACK - PERSONALIZED WITH USERNAME:
(very thankful to my girlfriend, who made the logo accessible!)
i love the idea of some people around the world running around with these shirts.
i start this thread to see what others think about. in case there is some enthusiasm, i could manage to get shirts printed for others as well. of course, it's maybe a dumb idea to send them from europe to the states...and the question of money transfer arises too.
however, what do you think about it ? i really think it is a nice idea to have fb.netters connected by such a shirt. maybe somebody could organize a distribution in the us. i know that everybody can do it for him/herself too, but we all know how lazy the individual can get...
p.s.: the logos are available in better resolution at

sorry two reelers, but I saw that and thought it was a man with giant, aroused genitalia. Probably says more about me to be honest. I'd still get the tattoo tho'

two reelers, I like the idea a lot. (Hopefully my endorsement doesn't constitute kiss of death in these parts.) Though I still like the overall intent of the logo, llama is right in that once one detects the non-dangle, the original intent is overcome. I suggest a minimal tactical redesign, but overall the concept is strong, especially with the back. This has potential.
llama, I must say I like your signature. Nothing like taking a cliche to its existential roots. |

it's so pretty, as it looks just like the one I had in 1993. isn't that artwork copyrighted?

yes, that was my thought.
that logo is most certainly copyrighted.
there were several (very) good, original designs submitted months and months ago.
who is that person? print 'em up!

I'll gladly accept a nomination to said committee if someone is so inclinded to do the nominating and of course I hereby nominate two reelers as Chairperson of said committee

I hereby nominate you as a committe member and suggest that you and I get with two reelers in the next few days and get started on this.

I asked the magic eight ball what it thought and the answer seemed to be a twenty page long thread where lots of people promised to do stuff and stuff never happens and the thread sticks around forever so those of us who weren't around when the thread actually occured and everyone got all pissy about it can look on and laugh and declare the old timers a bunch of weirdos.
Seriously it's quite hilarious if you weren't there.

Ooooohhh, somewhere in between those lines Starme, I read a challenge, a challenge to put up or (my words) shut up. I'm game.
Hey two reelers let's hear from you, we've got a big "to do" list if we want to get this ready for the Holidays.

btw, Scruvs and Two Reelers, I'm more of a logistics guy, so I'll leave decisions about the artwork to others more qualified than I.
I suggest we get some more people on the committee and get the "to do" list written out, huh.

Two Reelers, wow I think this is such a huge idea. Thanks for all your initiatve to get this started again. I think it's a great idea.
As far as the design goes, it does to me appear a little phallic. Maybe try separating the F & B. Maybe we could inlude some of Active Duck's flowers on the website too?
As far as the user name goes, I prob wouldn't wear one to shows but I would definately wear it around the house.
As far as price goes I would definately buy something in the 10-15 dollar range.
Again Two Reelers, you deserve a huge pat on the back for your efforts! |

*blushes* well I would feel a little weird wearing a phallic shirt to fb/pixies shows. I would wear it around my place though.
Maybe we could take the lead from two reelers design and combine that with the Frank Black logo from the yellow/orange album and then add .net under or by Frank Black.
I don't think Frank would mind if we borrowed the artwork for such a noble cause?? |

Phallic, huh, oh yeah I see it now, the diagonal line in the B pointing straight up. Yeah, it does appear as if the F guy is happy to see someone.

Good one Carl
Hey Scruvs, that's cool, I understand, one must recognize one's limits.
How 'bout Kathryn and Daisy, are you two willing to serve on the committee, perhaps Co-Chair the Subcommittee on Design? Great I was hoping we could count on the two of you.

Hey Carl, can we count on you and your incredible artistic talent to serve on the Subcommittee on Design? I think Soren would be a nice addition to the team, as well.

woah, thanks to all for your enthusiam.
i was in poland this weekend, thus the late reply. i saw through your ideas & comments quite quickly, so i may have overseen something.
1. the logo / phallic stuff. it never appeared to me like that, but it seems to a lot of other people. but i just love this logo. it is so fucking great. it says everything about the man - just him & his guitar. FB. whoever had the idea and designed it, give him/her a medal. whatever happens, i will get myself a shirt with this logo anyway. did i say that i love this logo ?
2. as it goes for copyright, i have no idea. it is simply scanned from the LP and reduced to B&W. is there anybody out there, having a close connection to the FB-camp where he/she could ask about such a thing ?
3. OldMan, it is great that you have a shirt-production-connection. if we could get this running, i think your involvemnet will be highly appreciated. i'm not really big in organizing.
4. if the un/official FB.net-shirt is really going to happen, then of course, i don't want to force my (phallic) design wish onto others. in other words, it wouldn't make sense to produce t-shirts nobody is going to buy/wear. maybe other people should deliver their suggestions (soon).
5. next steps - clearify if we want this logo (which means, posting YES or NO in this thread. i say YES. think about it agian) - who can check out if it is copyrighted, resp. if we can get permission to use it ??? - if the answers to both questions is YES, go on with the production - if it is NO, decide about another logo (posting suggestions in this thread) - production: oldman, can you check out for the states ? e.g. how much it will cost, how to do it most effective with the personalized back-side (for me, this is essential). i will do the same for over here.
- maybe most important: as i understand, FB.net is the baby of davenoisy and some others (?). of course, a FB.net t-shirt should be coordinated with the creators of this site. i will not start the creatiion of a FB.net shirt witouth approval of the makes of FB.net. so, what has the spokesman/woman of this site to say ?
i will be back in the evening (GMT).

I'll take two!
(and don't you care about who's on board the idea and who isn't. let this thread be the moderator and lets get this great idea done)
Lets get tees made up for the few who want them, rather than looking at this as a forum project. Like starme.k mentioned, the last time this was tried it descended into farce and not a single member ended up with a dotnet tee. |
