I have now heard the entire song. It's "interesting" ... A different style for FB which I don't mind so much, but I have a feeling a lot of people probably won't like it.

"I think I'm turning Japaneese, I really think so"
What would music be like if it wasn't for these 80's movies?
I mean that's how I found out about so many bands. Too bad it's not still like that. |

This whole CD was a huge surprise. It seemed like one of those tribute album deals with a few big names and then a bunch of so-so unknowns. But the unknowns really impressed me here.
Frank's track was excellent, of course; kind of a follow-up to the Two Pale Boys stuff.

Frank's cover was awesome. But I was happy that the other songs really rocked. Alot of those tunes, I was not so sure how they could be covered. But I was really impressed how the whole package came together.
I really like listening to it solo, but this is also something I am going to share with friends. I'm bringing my copy to my friend's New Year's party and I can pretty much say, I know it's going to be the best cd played there.

Hey guys and gals!
I really hope you enjoy the CD. We put a lot of work in to it, and while it's not perfect in my opinion, I LOVE 85% of it. There's really like three songs I don't go crazy for, but on the whole I think it's a great album... in some cases, I think the lesser known bands outshine the better-known ones! I listen to it all the time, and that's saying a lot considerign I have been listening to some of these tracks since March or so!
Anyway, to those of you that bought the CD, thanks for supporting good music, and I hope you'll be impressed with our next project as well. |

This project was great. It's a great way of hearing FB and other well loved artisted like K. Hersh. But it's also a way to really discover some new talented bands too.
Looking forward to the next prpject, too. |

High School Reunion: A Tribute to Those Great 80s Films [American Laundromat/Face Down; 2005] Rating: 6.2
excerpt of local interest:
"For all the potential heartstring tugging, the disc's bright spots occur on the quirkier, fun covers. Rather than trying to spruce up Oingo Boingo, the Bennies embrace Danny Elfman's kooky songwriting on "Weird Science". Frank Black one-ups that by simultaneously giving Iggy Pop a shout-out while sounding perfectly form-fitted to the sci-fi tomfoolery of "Repo Man", Trompe Le Monde's biological father. 4AD incest aside, even Kristin Hersh's pirated "Wave of Mutilation" cover hits the spot despite the Pixies perfecting the song's slow version 15 years ago."
Interestingly, this is the entire mention of the disc's highlights, all featuring our guys. |
