Hey, can anyone confirm if the songs themselves sound this distorted and low quality, or is this just this person's digitization?

My copies sound similar to these rips when listening on my turntable. They aren't final polished produced songs, they are roughs/demos.

Honestly I couldn't tell much of a difference. You might need high end audio equipment and/or producer/engineer ears to really tell.

I understand that, but the distortion sounds like vinyl or transferring distortion to me and not like a demo quality thing. Demos aren't usually distorted, despite being of lower than studio quality. We have other Pixies demos and rarities that do not have distortion, etc.

Agree with what's been said above. 'Punk Loop' is particularly interesting. I could swear there was a Trompe era TV appearance where the band launched into a similar sounding instrumental (like the descending chords from the 3:20 mark) after the applause for having played one of the Trompe songs. But can't find it anywhere (had thought it was one of the Dennis Miller appearances). Perhaps a false memory!

Slightly surprised the two Punk Loop riffs never got repurposed. BF hasn't left many things lying around over the years (the unheard 2.0 songs aside), and it was intriguing to hear what became Adda Lee in that first Wave of Mutilation demo.

I check this forum every single day for like the past ten+ years. I don't get how it's even possible I could have missed this.

It's frustrating because me and a friend did a very elaborate, intensively researched podcast about the first FB album and this would have been nice to have for that.

I've never realised that riff became Adda Lee.
Though I now realise Adda Lee is an underestimated gem.

Punk Loop is clearly a sketch, but it's hard to escape the echoes of Bagboy. Can't imagine they went through the Trompe era tapes when the demoing began circa 2010/11, but there we are.

Certainly feels like forced than Bagboy, which I always felt was a rather mean-spirited lyric.
