In most audience recordings from the Bossa/Trompe tour on YouTube, I remember the band sounding much better than on this official release. Was this just a rough performance, or do soundboard recordings generally not do them justice?

In my opinion this is a genuinely awful release. The Come On Pilgrim It’s Surfer Rosa Live release was excellent. |

It would probably bother me more if I bought the vinyls or something
I kind of like the wildness of it
It's fun in a sort of way
Thre are definitely nice versions of TLM album songs live from 2024 on YouTube |

Checking this out. The false start? That's a messup. Something that could easily be edited out too.

There were some regular blips - the intro to Trompe Le Monde never sounded quite right - but there was certainly much better performances that could have been chosen! |

very odd, indeed.
have we identified the show (or shows???) this release was recorded at? there were 15, right?
i'd be surprised if it was a combination of shows, because then you'd expect someone taking the time to select the best performance of each song...
on the other hand, if this was the recording of one night, then why not mention the date and location on the release?
it's educational |

Sloppy production over all either way
I like "warts and all" releases I have some Beach Boys live shows from a few years back that lift backing vocals from studio recordings. You can hear Carl Wilson singing back up to his own live lead vocal!

personally i also prefer complete recordings. i find it just a bit of a shame to get this one, if there were better performances, and if they're only releasing one show.
still enjoyable and cool to have. but difficult to understand how this came about.

Well surely we can find a middle ground between not totally faking everything (which I really hate and don't get the point of for live releases) and not releasing something full of noticeable mistakes! |
