First, as a native Andalusian I must say that I can´t understand a word when Sir Frank sings something like "Estaba pensando sobreviviendo...", "canta a la gente pa grati", etc. So I think the language he writes in is obviously some kind of pidgim, perhaps Spanglish from Puerto Rico or Cuba, but not Castillian Spanish. So don´t trouble yourself in consulting Spanish-English dictionaries or something of the sort. You won´t understand a word.

Second, I must beg you not to call him Franco. For all whose are ignorant on the matter, I inform that Franco was a fascist dictator who bloody ruined Spain for 40 years after provoking one of the cruelest wars of the XX century. (Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939, 1 million dead among a population of 20 million more or less).It is as if you called him Hitler,Stalin, Mussolini or Karadzic.

And finally I´d like to give you some lessons in Spanish cinema. Since I joined this forum, I´ve never seen correctly written "Un chien andalousien", a French phrase wich means "An Andalusian dog". That´s the title of a film by Luis Buñuel (yes, with an "Ñ", not an "N"). Luis Buñuel was one of the greatest geniuses of all times and of all nations. It´s a pitty that so few Americans know about him or about any other Spanish director except Almodóvar. It´s a pitty that you know only the cinema "made in Hollywood". Since I consider all of you highly cultivated people (other way you´d rather join a fan forum about Eminem or about Cristina Aguilera)I really recomend you to take a look at "Un chien andalousien", "Tristana", "Viridiana", "Las Hurdes, tierra sin pan", "Abismos de pasión", etc. if you can. Not if you can, IF YOU DARE. He was a little sadic kind of genius, a really wicked one.

That "squiggly n thing" is not a sign on the "N", but "Ñ" is a letter itself. It´s pronounced like the French "GN" in "cognac" or the Portugese "NH" in "piranha", in English you´ve got a similar sound in words like "canyon" or "onion". He, he ,am I not pedantic?. So you know Buñuel very well, all right, try something new if you´re interested in Spanish cinema: Alejandro Amenábar. Recently an awful Hollywood remake film of his masterwork "Abre los ojos" called "Vanilla Sky" came to our cinemas. And I think youll´be able to find "Los otros" (starring NIcole Kidman).
And I suppose you enjoy Salvador Dalí too. So take a look to Antonio López paintings. That´s another turning on the screw of surrealism: hyperrealism. This great genius only comparable to Velázquez paints real horrible nightmares disguised as cotidian facts and places. Well, I stop "pedanting" around this time. But beware!! the pedantic perra will be back!!
