Am I correct? Are there indeed no curse words on any song? I mean DITS had plenty of curses, and I think just about every album prior has at least one... I'm talking at least the "f" or "s" word...
FB/FB = "parry the wind" "brackish boy" TOTY = (none?) COR = "punk rock city" FB&C = (none?) (except maybe "sun bitch gonna get you") Pistolero = "so. bay" Dits = "blast off" "Hermaphroditos" BLD = none? DW = none?
please correct me if I am wrong or left anything out (which I am sure I did), if you care to? too?...
I just think it intesting to note the use of curse words...

Frank does not really curse or offend anybody, that's what I like about him. But I understand the Limp Bizkit fans a little, cause when Frank says fuck, I sometimes feel uplifted. He's got this strange effect on me

I think cussing in today's music is so overused and has become in a sense, cliched. It's like, "oh yeah i haven't heard THAT word before, ______ (insert crappy band here)". Some bands, however, swear where it fits and they aren't saying it just to say it or to make the song "radical". Frank Black definitely uses cuss words well. Usually in a casual way. It doesn't stand out or he doesn't accent the cuss word. Except maybe in "Hermaphroditos" but even then it's used poetically.

I might be mistaken, but I think there is a "damn" somewhere on Black Letter Days. I can't remember which song but i dunno if you are counting "damn" as a cuss. Also in St. Francis Dam Disaster he says it. oh wait, different dam.

i know one of his new songs, either Nadine, or Manitoba (i think Manitoba) has "fuck" in it..
just to weigh in here..
i don't know if i'd consider "damn" a profanity.. i mean, you can say it on the radio and on TV..
it's not like, say, "cuntface" or "ass head".

yes they are new songs that he has played live, and only the great "Floop" is fortunate enough to have been witness.
Floop is the shizznasty I tell you.
I wonder even with Frank's mastery of lyrics if he could somehow eloquently put the phrases "cunt face" and "ass head" into a song. :)

Cursing is definitely overused in todays music. I remember when GNR's "Appetite" first came out, people thought that the amount of cursing on it was a big deal....I thought that the lyrics were used well on that record however. But for God's sake, listen to a modern day rap record and every other word is a curse word. It's just too much and it makes the artist(s) sound more ignorant and annoying than clever, angry, innovative or offensive. Curse words, like other words definitely have their proper times and places, but too much is just too much. I always thought that Frank was very clever with his lyrics, even when they were pretty over the top (all the incest themes a la Holiday Song, Broken Face...and so on). That's one of the many things I always like about Frank....he just has a terrific way with words. |

wait a second.. this isn't the Kennny G message board?
Proverbial, yeah, they're new new songs.. (like LBF said). when i saw Frank at Amoeba Records back in August (for the free record release in-store) he actually played 4 new songs. as in, new new. apparantly they've already recorded another album.. yes, another album.
and he mentioned something about how he and Dave P. had been doing some recording the week prior..
it just keeps coming baby..
