It's a cover. It has something to do with Townes Van Zandt, or Elvis Presley, but I can't remember who wrote it. I think it's Van Zandt.

All I knew was that the song was written for Elvis, but I don't know who wrote it or why Elvis never played it...

This is my guess at the lyrics, I have no friggin clue what the lyric is for that one part with the ??????

and I play the song with just C G D... but I don't know if those are the right chords or not... corrections welcome

The booklet of the lastest Elvis best-of ("30 #1 Hits") says something about this Shrimp Song, I'll have a look at it.
