And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - thanks in liner notes
311- lyrical reference in a song I canÕt remember the name of Ònot black like barry white, but white like Frank Black...Ó (or something to that effect
Beck - lyrical nod in 2 Turntables and a Microphone? Òbottles and cans just clap your hands...Ó A Calistan reference maybe? |

Oops! Mixed my references. 311 said something that alluded to not being so serious and having some fun in life. It went something like... Ò....you should take a tip from my man Frank Black. Play some pachinko, play some parcheesy Cuz all that other shitÕs just cheesyÓ
Great reference, terrible fucking rhyme. |

Ben Lee mentions the Pixies a lot in the songs... he has one called away with the Pixies and also in another song "Pop Queen" he confirms the coolness of his object of effection by saying "You love the Pxies... Your the ultimate Pop Queen know what I mean".
Thats my two cents....

In Weezer choose Pat Wilson chose Los Angeles.
Phew, I will never reply to one of these again. |

again - i think.
There may be no 'I' in team, but there's a 'ME' if you look hard enough. |

"In Weezer choose Pat Wilson chose Los Angeles." Translation....I think that what Malax was trying to say was that Patrick Wilson, drummer for Weezer, chose the video for Los Angeles as one of his top five favorites when the band hosted a show on MTV Europe. In the section on weezer.com that highlights what weezer has been up to lately, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner have both said that Pixies cd's are currently in high rotation in their cars. Thought you may like to know. FranknWeezer |

supposedly "Away with the pixies" is not about the pixies. i checked up on it when i first heard the song. in an interview ben lee says that he had a friend named "pixie" who was trying to get rid of her name. sounded like a pretty long stretch to me. but he made a point to say that everyone thinks he's obsessed with the pixies, but he's really not. |

There's also an outstanding Weezer cover of Velouria floating around on Kazaa (not sure if it's from an album or a demo or a BL).
Speaking of covers, etc., I also like Engine's version of "Subbaculcha" 'We were all dressed up in black, and me I was dressed like Frank Black'
Local H did a passable cover of "Tame".
Trent Reznor seems to like to experiement with medleys of covers of both Frank Black and David Bowie, from time to time.
Anyone notice that the closing theme of the film "Fight Club" was none other than "Where Is My Mind"?
Are they grey or is it my own nation? |

Velouria was recorded for the Where Is My Mind? covers album. There is some shit on that, for example Reel Big Fishes Gigantic. AGGGGHHHHHH.
However The Get Up Kids (I think) version of Trompe Le Monde is class purely for their parody of the Kim And Frank at the beggining of is it Oh My Golly? |

In this weeks issue of Blender magazine there is an article with Spanish Teenie Boppers Las Ketchup. They are HUGE PIXIES FANS!
Also Austrialian teenie bopper Rob Levitt has a song called "PIXIES" on his last albums. One of the lyrics is "FRANK & KIM WOULD NOT BE LEADERS/SO KIM DEAL STARTED THE BREEDERS
Also, there's a band on Grand Royal Records called LADIES WHO LUNCH, they have an album call KIMS WE LOVE and they do all PIXIES covers.
Also, Post-Grunge rock group from Memphis called HAGFISHES have a song called "FRANK BLACK". One of the lyrics is "CHANGE YOUR NAME FROM CHARLES to BLACK/ PLAY YOUR GUITAR AND DON'T LOOK BACK"
You can buy any of these album at your local Record Shop
