Well, I'm not exactly musically edjumacated about the right to the ways and the rules of music, but the layering of the background vocals in "The Night Before" is just rich. Actually, every little part of that song is absolutely perfect. Any given time, any given instrument. Transitions. Everything about its perfect. Plus it has lyrics that could be considered pretty racy for the times, if you had your goddamn mind in the gutter as I often do.

So you're saying Kim Deal's backing vocals remind you of the Beatles?
I'm saying that the way The Pixies "used" backing vocals remind me a lot the way The Beatles did! A lot of bands tend to use backing vocals to sing along with the lead singer during the chorus. The Beatles used backing vocals as an extra instrument and so did the Pixies.

Ok, I see your point. They used backing vocals in a similar way, buy you didn't mean to say that the backing vocals sounded alike. My bad.
