This is a cheesy post . . . but I saw "The Neverending Story III - Escape from Fantasia" over the holidays and it's got to be the greatest "this is so bad I can't stop watching" movie of all time. I highly recommend it. There's an homage to "Easy Rider" that literally repelled my body away from the TV. I was out of the rocker and in the kitchen before I realized what was going on!

I loved the first "Neverending Story" - I guess I was the perfect age for it. I wanted to be that princess with the teardrop thing hanging down on her forehead.
I will check out number 3 - although I am slightly scared. |

NS1 is a wild movie and I think it damaged me as a kid. It's really not a good movie for kids to see, it's so fucked up. I forever became afraid of quick sand. |

Oh, I don't even remember the quicksand! I specifically remember the flying dog thing and the aforementioned teardrop headress. Those are really the only things I can come up with. Anyone here know the Dark Crystal?? Kind of along the same lines. I loved that movie. Anyway... |

I am too scared of creepy movies - real life is scary enough! I don't want that stuff in my head. I still have nightmares inspired by Silence of the Lambs.
So you see, I am a wimp! |

Oh, yay! I'll have to check out NS3--I only faintly recall the original, and the horrible theme song by Limahl of Kajagoogoo fame. In the so-bad-it's-good vein, I recommend a dreadful children's movie called Nukie. It's like a bad, very low budget African E.T. I haven't seen it in about eight years, but the mere mention of it reduces my husband to tears--we try to talk about it and end up fetal on the floor in hysterics every time. Also, check out Shakes the Clown--critically assessed as "the Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown movies." |
