That's funny..just the other day at work I was thinking it would be great if they made a Christmas album-new songs (except for maybe Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You". And the album cover could be a variation of the Teenager front with a Santa suit and black beard. |

Hi everyone. FYI, if you haven't read Frank's bio that I did on the web-site, he actually does do background vox on Alan Merrill's "Merrilly Christmas" album. Also, I just received some kind updates, read below:
From Melissa:
THE Frank Black does perform backing vocals on Alan Merrill's Christmas album. The record was produced by Jon Tiven. I think Frank Black may have also sung backups for Merrill on one of the Jon Tiven Group albums too. Merrill was the lead singer of that band.
also from Melissa:
Further to my last email- I got it ! Frank Blacks sings back up on- "Let's Think About It", a duet between Alan Merrill and Arthur Alexander. The "Merrilly Christmas" mix is slightly different than the "Blue Guru" (Jon Tiven Group) mix. Both are Merrill and Alexander vocal duets. Also in the background chorus with Frank on both mixes of that song- Gary US Bonds, Sir Mack Rice, and Graham Parker.
Thanks Melissa!
Here's another from Allegra:
This is a quick note to let you know that Mr. Black sings the chosuses on the tune 'let's think about it' on the 'Merrilly Christmas' cd. The song also is featured on the Jon Tiven band's mid 1990's 'blue guru' (fountainbleu records) album with Merrill and Arthur Alexander singing lead as a duet. It's a different mix but the same cast and crew on the title. Of interest, this is the only duet Arthur Alexander ever did in his recording career. <More obscure notes> Arthur Alexander was John Lennon's idol. Alan Merrill had hits in the 70s as singer of the glam rock Arrows, including the original first '75 version of 'I love rock and roll', later made famous by Joan Jett and now Britney Spears.
Thanks Allegra!
Thought you'd all find this interesting since we're discussing FB and Christmas songs...
Happy-Happy everyone, Zan
